“We broke the right front hub in the last Practice Session, so we weren’t able to Qualify and had to start in the back.” Stated the Hudsonville, Michigan driver. “This is the same car we drove in the JEGS/CRA/GM race last month and the car was just awesome, so fun to drive. We just had to focus on what we had to do and we got through there and got the win! This is Awesome!” He ended.

After tonight’s race, the CRA Super Series will headline the 40th annual Winchester 400 Weekend on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, October 14-15-16th at the legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana.

The CRA Super Series as well as the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts, Sullivan R.V. CRA Late Model Sportsmen Series, EDCO Welding CRA Street Stocks Series, and Vore’s Welding & Steel Front Wheel Drive (FWD) Compacts Series will all decide their respective 2011 Series Champions and Rookie of the Year titles respectively.

Located just 10 miles West of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan, Chester Mysliwiec and family started a racing tradition in 1950. Berlin Raceway, as he named it, has seen it all through the years. From its humble dirt track beginnings, Berlin Raceway, now a 7/16 mile paved oval with 13-degree banking in the turns and 9 degree banking on the straightaways, has grown into one of the premier short tracks in America.

4 Derrick Griffin and 811 Mason Mingus are in a dogfight for the 2011 Rookie of the Year title as Griffin carries a 68-point advantage over Mingus.

Three time series Champion Scott Hantz saw his 38 point lead shrink to just 15 after last Sunday’s event at Lucas Oil Raceway were Hantz salvaged a 25th place finish after contact from another car damaged his racecar. Hantz and his team worked on the car for several laps, he was able to return to the event and gain five positions to keep the points lead as he tries to claim a fourth CRA title.

Welch & Wilson Motorsports driver Derrick Griffin survived a couple of instances on a day when all the top point teams experienced some type of trouble to get an 11th place finish, tops among the top five in series points. Griffin, the series current leader in rookie points, is trying to become the first driver to claim the series Points Championship and Rookie of the Year honors in the same season since Hantz did it in 2000. Terry Fisher Jr. is in third place, he is 58 points behind Griffin Jr. Kenny Tweedy is in fourth place, only 15 points behind Fisher Jr. Rookie Mason Mingus is in fifth place, nine points behind Tweedy.

The VROA Modifieds have completed their first Practice Session.

The Vintage Racing Organization of America (V.R.O.A.) Modifieds Series is a club dedicated to preserving a form of circle track racing prevalent during the 1940’s – 1960’s.

These cars are referred to as Vintage Modifieds. Cars must use pre 1948 bodies manufactured in the US or Canada, inline six cylinder engines, straight axles, leaf springs, made for racing chassis, and required safety equipment. The emphasis of our club is to have fun racing unique cars that are low cost to build and maintain.
