4:19
Some fans may be wondering what the difference between an Ace Speedway Modified and a Tour-Type Modified are.  First, the obvious difference is the tire.  The Ace Mods run on a much narrower tire.  Ace Mods also are more of a catch-all division, with some cars having more of an IMCA-style body on them.

3:54
The word from officials is five Ace Modidifieds are here today.
3:54
Comment From Larry

How many ace mods?

3:53
Also in the drivers’ meeting, lead Tour-Type Modified official Dick Brooks, speaking on behalf of race promoter Charles Kepley, praised the drivers for attending today’s race, but also called the lack of car count “disappointing.”
3:51
The drivers’ meeting has concluded.  Here are some of the highlights for the Tour-Type Modifieds:- Tonight’s race will be 125 green flag laps.
– A driver can not lose a lap in the pits under caution
– At some point between laps 25 and 100, every car must make a mandatory pit stop.  Under this pit stop, changes can be made and as many as two tires can be changed.  If a driver chooses not to take tires, the car must at least be lifted into the air by a jack and let down.
– If a driver can pit anytime before lap 25 or after 100, but there must also be a pit stop, even if it’s just to raise a car on a jack, between 25 and 100.
2:53
Practice has concluded here at OCS.  A driver’s meeting is scheduled to start in about a half hour.
2:27
Comment From Jeff

At what time does the tour race actually start?

2:23
Bandolero practice has just concluded.  Only the Legends and Ace Modifieds have to practice before the 3:20pm Driver’s Meeting.
2:15
The NASCAR Southern Whelen Modified Tour only pays $2,000 to win, so why there aren’t more of those cars here, we’re not sure.
2:15
Comment From Lloyd

Don’t forget it only pays $2500 to win $600 to start

Orange County Speedway, just outside Durham, North Carolina, saw Tour-Type Modifieds hit its asphalt for last year’s Frost Bite Modified Winter Nationals for the first time since 1988.  What is now the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour made five stops to OCS over the years, with notable winners including Charlie Jarzombek in the first-ever NASCAR Modified race at OCS, Jeff Fuller, Rick Fuller, Reggie Ruggiero and Mike Stefanik.
1:46
It’s a Chamber of Commerce day here in Rougemont, North Carolina.  It’s about 75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky – perfect racing weather.  Ironically, this event is called the Frost Bite Modified Winter Nationals, yet it takes place on the first day of Spring.
1:40
The third and final Tour-Type Modified practice is just a few minutes from going green.

We’ve already had a couple people ask…no, the blonde that Jonathan Brown had the hots for in last week’s Madhouse episode is nowhere to be found.

We just got back from shooting some photos to find that there is a third “Madhouse” cast member here today, but it’s not Junior Miller.  Jonathan Brown is here in the bringht-orange #00 Ace Modified.  No, fans, the blonde that was the object of his affection in this past weekend’s episode was nowhere to be found.
12:48
As previously mentioned in our Trackside Now coverage (scroll down to see what you may have missed), Junior Miller has not yet appeared here at OCS and is seemingly not going to.  No official word as to why, just yet.
12:48
Comment From Racer1_NC

I don’t see the 69 of Jr. Miller listed. Was he a no show?

12:09
The pre-race hype for this event featured three of the stars of the hit TV show “Madhouse” as pre-entries into the event, Burt Myers, Jason Myers and Junior MIller, but to this point, only the Myers brothers have arrived here at OCS.
12:00
A few more Ace Modifieds have hit the track, including Brian King, an Ace regular and a former regular on the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.  King will be pulling double-duty here tonight.
11:55
Fans of Legends, Bandoleros and the Ace Mods, we’re sorry that we’re not going to be able to get you lap times today.  The only division here with transponders are the Tour-Type Modifieds.
11:49
We welcome fan interaction all daly long here on Trackside Now.  Send us a comment or question and we’ll try to get to them all day long.
