Summers clearly had the car to beat early, but in the end, Lichty’s move relegated him back to second. “It’s tough in these things with no mirrors and no radios. Once he got his wheel in there, I didn’t want to wreck us so we had to just go hard, side by side.” Summers wasn’t sure his race was done just yet at that point, “In lapped traffic I was able to catch back up and thought I may have a shot but he drove a heck of a race. He always does.”
10:31
With much respect between them, Lichty referred to Perley as the “King” of Oswego for the last ten years, however the torch may be passing. “I think Mike Lichty is the new man to beat here.” Said third place finishing Perley, “He’s been running really consistent here.” He added.

Perley started in the fifth spot and thought from the start he may be in trouble, “I was sideways through one and two actually on the first lap. And the next lap I did it again. And I’m thinking, oh this is gonna be a long race.” Perley did have positive thoughts on the final result though. “Top three is top three. We had a good enough car to run with them. We’ve got some things to work on but I’m happy with it.”

10:27
After setting fast time earlier in the afternoon, just .008 off the track record, and starting back in ninth, Lichty said he knew he had to make his move early, “I got to third by lap 15, but then I got a little aggressive down there in lapped traffic” Lichty said, in regards to the incident on lap 16. “I knew with the way Robbie (Summers) was running, and how good Perley was all afternoon that I had to go.”

Although he admits to being concerned as to the condition of the car following the incident, “I thought we bent the torsion bar to be honest with you,” Lichty felt that he had one chance to make his move following the red flag, “I kinda knew after the red flag that we weren’t gonna get into heavy lapped traffic again. I just kinda set him up on the outside and it worked.”
