This race actually began in 1999 as the “Are All The Nuts And Bolts Tight 100” before changing its name to the current Intimidator in 2001 after the passing of Dale Earnhardt. Kalamazoo Speedway Promoter, Gary Howe, a huge fan of Earnhardt, decided to rename the race in his honor.

Kalamazoo legend, Randy Sweet was the winner of the original event in 1999 while Fred Campbell took the victory in 2000, the last year before the name change of the event.

It is the number one Outlaw Super Late Model event in the nation! The Kalamazoo Klash XXII will take place on Wednesday, August 13 at the Kalamazoo Speedway in Kalamazoo, MI. Last year, Terry Senneker won the Klash and picked up the $10,000 check. It was the second year in a row, and third Klash win overall in his career. The premier division here at Kalamazoo Speedway is the Outlaw Super Late Models which are similar to Super Late Models across the country with one major difference; the slick wedge bodies these machines have.
2:21
The remaining two divisions will be treated to full Trackside Now Coverage starting with the Super Stocks, which are similar to the CRA Late Model Sportsman Series or Big 8 Limited Late Model Series cars from the Midwestern United States. A Pro Late Model type car, Kalamazoo Speedway races these machines on Hoosier 970 tires with 8-inch rims.
2:18
The Cyber Stocks will be on the track first today at 2:30p.m., and they are front wheel drive four and six cylinder machines. This division is considered the ‘beginners’ class here at Kalamazoo Speedway with little to no modifications to the cars.

The Mini Stocks are rear wheel drive four-cylinders and a little more advanced than the Cyber Stocks division. Primarily Mustang type cars, the teams are also allowed limited racing components.

The Pro Stocks division is similar to Street Stocks from around the country and closely resemble the CRA Street Stocks Series.

These three support divisions will receive limited coverage in today’s Trackside Now.

2:12
There is no pre-entry list for the Intimidator, so a driver roster will be gathered as we go here this afternoon.

It is a beautiful sunny day here in Kalamazoo, Michigan. No clouds in the sky and current temperature is at 61 degrees. About normal for this time of year in the Great Lakes State.
