Patrick Emerling was the only NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour regular to qualify in the top eight. He is happy with his new Lafler Chassis that debuted at Trenton last month and will head into the match races with an indifferent attitude saying that if he can make something of it then it will be worthwhile.

Two time defending Gamblers Classic winner and last year’s Friday winner Anthony Sesely will have to qualify through his heat race tonight. Due to the track rubbering down he admits he’s heading into tonight’s races a bit “lost and aimlessly”. Although it is a new TQ to him this year, he attributes it mostly to changing track conditions compared to previous years.

Drellos picked up a big win at Mahoning Valley Speedway last summer and the team has been spending a lot of time studying how the car handles on the Boardwalk Hall concrete surface. The young driver has plans to move up to a 358 Modified at Lebanon Valley Speedway (NY) after this weekend.

2013 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Ryan Preece has packed up his no. 40 and left Boardwalk Hall. He crashed hard in practice last night.

This is the second straight year that Preece’s Gambler’s Classic weekend has ended on Thursday. Last year he blew a motor.
