Tonight’s Flip Merwin Memorial is 150 laps for the ASA Midwest Tour. We have well over 30 cars here today and will have to see a few good cars sit this one out as only 26 will make the show.

The starting field will consist of 26 cars. Positions 1-18 will come from
qualifying with and inversion of Eight (8) plus the roll of the dice. Positions
(19-23) will come from the last chance event. Provisional position 24-
Highest in 2011 ASAMT Points, Position 25- Highest in Staet Park
Speedway 2011 Points, Position 26- Highest Touring Star to not make the
event. If ALL Touring Stars are in the event, the provisional reverts back to
the Highest in 2011 points to not make the event

This is only the third time Steve Carlson has ever raced at this track and it’s in his home state. Carlson was second here back in the 80’s on a regular night of racing. He has not been back and he has NEVER won here.

Tonight’s race is the Flip Merwin Memorial here at State Park Speedway. He was a Snowmobile racer who was killed in 2003 in a racing accident. That same season State Park Speedway had a race in his honor and have run it ever since. Tonight Jeff Storm is running 525, his old number that he had on his sleds.
