Blaney – He’s a bit bigger and he gets really pissed (its obvious sometimes) when things don’t go his way.

5:49
He does, former SD winner Ricky Turner is crew chief for Chase Elliott and Elliott credits much of his success back to Ricky.
5:48
Comment From sportsman12

Comment From Champ Kind

not very tall tho

5:46
Comment From Twisty

Chase Elliott back in sixth? Doesn’t matter. All he needs is a “Two Lap Tommy” charge through the field like we saw in ACT last week and he could be right up there battling for the victory.

5:46
You’ve got a point, he’s racked up quite a few wins in the past couple weeks.
5:45
Comment From Rickaa

The kids not only good he’s smart.

5:44
Comment From Derek

Blaney runs pretty good everywhere. Most of the heavy hitters from the area aren’t even there.

5:44
Comment From JT Simmons

I think its cool how yall have pics on the right side of all GA tracks!

5:44
Think so Rickaa? He’s 6th at the moment and Blaney is strong. Augie seems to be having trouble hanging with him.
5:43
Comment From Rickaa

I’m thinking Chase is saving his stuff.

5:43
Due to the wet weather we’ve had in the central North Carolina area in the recent days, Jimmy Weller is stuck in the mud in the grass below the back straightaway. Wreckers are now working to pull him out.

TJ Reaid has also come to pit road under this caution.
5:35
The window net is down on Tim Brown’s #167 so he is ok.

Speaking of Tim Brown’s past Modified exploits here at Hickory, we dug up a great quote Brown gave Speed51.com after he finished second to his fellow “Madhouse” castmate Junior Miller in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour event here back in 2007.”We got beat tonight by lapped traffic,” said Brown. “We had the better car, but he got under me with the lapped traffic. He used the lapped traffic to keep up there too. My hat’s off to him and my hat’s off to my team and my guys and my sponsors and all that, but inside I’m just tore up. I’m just so sick of running second to him that it’s not even funny. It’s going to happen and I know it’s going to happen, but I hope it doesn’t happen next week.”

Brown went on to finish second to Miller in the point standings that year, as well.

Tim Brown is joining the Late Model ranks by following the veterans, he’s spent several laps in Augie Grill’s tire tracks. Brown posted the 3rd fastest time in first round of practice. He has somewhat of an advantage since he has raced here at Hickory Motor Speedway before in a modified a few years back and this will mark Augie Grill’s first event here at HMS.

Weather is perfect here right now…mid-80’s and just enough cloud cover to make it not too unbearable. Sure, it’s hot, but it’s late May in the South, that’s to be expected! There’s a minimal chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, but again, in the South, that’s normal too. We expect there to be no hiccups in today’s program .As mentioned in the driver’s meeting, the Tri-County event from Friday will not be rescheduled.

The Driver’s Meeting has now concluded and here are a few notes from that gathering :- Cautions will count in the first 100 laps but the last 50 will be all green.

– The Southern Six Pack will return for the 2011 season and will likely continue along the same lines as the 2010 schedule.

– Friday’s cancelled event from Tri-County Motor Speedway will not be rescheduled and the addition of another race to replace it has yet to be mentioned.

– Drivers will be allowed to race back to the caution only on the last lap.

– If you are involved in a caution but are not the cause of the yellow, you will be able to keep your spot and won’t be sent to the rear of the field.

– Teams will be allowed to change tires only if they have a flat that has been approved my a series official.

In other Champion Racing Association news, Johnny Van Doorn currently leads the CRA Super Series standings by 11 points over Rick Turner who holds the second spot by 13 points over Brian Campbell in third. Van Doorn and Campbell are both in their sophomore seasons with their race teams, Port City Racing and Perfect Circle Racecars respectively – both are racecar chassis manufacturing companies. Looks like an exciting battle shaping up this season.
