This is only the sixth different venue to finish a Pro Cup season. In the past the series would always end at USA International. That track is no longer there. Other stops have been at Rockingham, South Boston, Orange County, Southern National and now Hickory.

At the end of the drivers meeting Pro Cup Series Director Jack McNelly addressed the drivers about tonight’s race and the future.

“This is a project in process,” said McNelly. “We are working on an experiment. It may not work tonight, but we will get the right combination. We are not ready to announce the plans for next year just yet, but we are going to keep going. It may not look like this, but we will be racing.”

Just reminder that Pro Cup has opened the rules up so Late Models can run with the series for the final few races. Pro Cup cars have to have a weight or 3300 pounds were the Late Models have to be 3100. So far things have been pretty even on the practice charts.

We just got word that the funeral is over. We are now rolling off for the final Pro Cup practice. We have also been told that there is another funeral later today.

We will have slight delay before the next practice. Hickory Motor Speedway sits next to a cemetery and the track announcer has just informed us that we are now standing down for a funeral. No engines will be fired as the track will respect the family and friends who are gathering next door.
