Tim Brown on his pole-winning qualifying effort.

“In practice, we ran some 40’s on our old tires.  I knew we were going to be good.  It was a good lap and hopefully we can put it all together for 150 laps.  Hopefully we’ll end the season with four wins, which is still half of what we had last year.”

7:48
Burt Myers on trying to hold off his brother Jason for the Modified championship:

“We’re going to do whatever God’s plan is for us.  I told Jason, ‘I’ve been in this scenario, don’t turn your back on anybody.  He said, ‘Don’t you either.'”

7:46
Yes, while our focus will be on the Modified event, we will have periodic updates on all of the divisions except the Chain Race tonight.

Normally finishing points drop by two per position. Therefore, with tonight being a double-point night, each spot is worth four points. In order for either Jason Myers or John Smith to beat Burt Myers, they would have to finish at least seven spots ahead of Burt on the track.
6:51
Comment From Jessica

How many spots in front of jason does burt have to finish to win the championship?

Modifieds are now on track for their second and final practice round of the day.

Comment From Guest

Would love to see Danny Bohn put Puddin’s car in victory lane again tonight, and would live to see Jason win his first championship…

6:33
Several drivers noted to 51 that the track was quite slick in first Modified practice. Danny Bohn mentioned that earlier today in a test session, a Sportsman division car drove around the track with a drain plug out, pouring fluids all over the track. Between that and the sun being out all day, the track was uncharacteristically slick.

Comment From Nick

Have a feeling the “madhouse” will live up to it’s name tonight. Season ender with all offseason to fix the carnage. Things tend to get wild.

5:41
We have been told that 26 Modifieds have signed into the pit area tonight. We will have a full roster shortly, likely after first Modified practice.

A tight point battle in the Bowman Gray Modified division. Walnut Cove, North Carolina’s Burt Myers is atop the standings and is looking to clinch his sixth Bowman Gray track title. Just 27 points back is a tie between Jason Myers, Burt’s brother, and John Smith of Mount Airy, NC for second. Tonight’s 150-lap feature will be worth double points, so the title is still up for grabs.

It’s a picture-perfect day for a race here in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Temperatures are currently in the mid-80’s and will cool down into the low 70’s tonight. There’s a Carolina blue sky overhead with a some big, puffy, white clouds dotting it. After two-straight rainouts here at Bowman Gray, Mother Nature has played along and it’s a great night for a championship battle.
