The Cabarrus Boys and Girls Club 250 marks the first of four races making up the 2010 Championship Series.  Clay Rogers, who led the regular season standings by 267 points, will head to Concord with 180 points after the reset. Rogers, of Mooresville, N.C. will make his 10th start at the .5-mile track Saturday, just 15 points ahead of second-place Logan Ruffin.

According to Pro Cup Series Director Jimmy Wilson, former Pro Cup Series Champion Benny Gordon decided this week not to make the trip from Pennsylvania to this race here at Concord Speedway due to a lack of funding.  Sponsorship support, plus not having all of his engines ready to go for this event, forced Gordon to sit out this first race of the Pro Cup Championship series.Gordon will be back with Pro Cup in the Bristol Motor Speedway event next month, however.

Local racer Trevor Farbo was using tonight’s race as his fourth attempt at a debut in the USARacing Pro Cup Series.  His first three ended prematurely either in practice or qualifying with a blown engine.  Today in practice, Farbo suffered his fifth blown engine in four attempts and again will not be making his Pro Cup debut tonight.This was a leased engine from the MacHill Motorsports team that Farbo was told had 10 laps on it going into this event.  Farbo sold his personal vehicle last week to pay for the lease of this engine.
