The KBM organization has undergone a re-focusing project with a second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series effort. Many members of the KBM Late Model program have been assigned to the second Truck, leaving not much going on on the KBM Late Model side. Comment From Stephen B.

Last year at the CRA portion of the All American 400 Stanley S. put up the extra money to guarantee all the cars would start the race for full pay, I thought that was a nice gesture.

6:32
That’s a good question.  Hamner left the Smith team and started driving some Pro Late Model races for his family team earlier this year.  We haven’t heard nor seen much from Stanley since then.
6:32
Comment From Stephen B.

Whatever happened to Stanley Smith? Did he shut his late model team down? I remember Hamner drove some races for him last year and the beginning of the year, but nothing recently.

6:32
Panahandle Motorsports has sent a crew member to get parts to from their shop, which is only minutes away.
6:31
The Super Late Models are all through pre-qualifying tech, with the exception of Johanna Long’s #10.  The contact with the wall earlier in practice bent a few right-front suspension pieces.  Her crew chief/brother-in-law Mike Williamson and the Panhandle Motorsports team are working to make repairs to Johanna’s car with hopes of racing later on tonight.

Super Late Model practice is now complete. Jeff Choquette was quickest in the final session.
5:33
With Super Late Model practice now over, the focus shifts to local division practice here at the speedway.  We will have times from Blizzard practice shortly.
5:32
As practice came to a close, TJ Reaid finally made it out to take a couple of laps at speed in his racer.
5:26
Five minutes remain in practice.
5:26
The report from pit road on Johanna Long is that she broke an upper arm on the right side of the car’s front suspension.  The team is hard at work trying to affect repairs to Long’s racer.
5:24

As practice edges to it’s conclusion, Jimmy Garmon, Augie Grill, Steven Davis, Michael Laney and others are using every second of track time to tweak their cars.

5:17
Johanna Long has just crashed in turn two.  She has climbed from her car as crews have arrived at the scene.  She is okay.  The car is the same car she won the 43rd Snowball Derby with.  Mike Williamson, crew chief, said they hadn’t had any practice with the car since the Derby.  They put a new body and refreshed the chassis before coming to Five Flags today.  The team does not have a backup here at the track, but their race shop is only minutes away, should they need to go that route.
5:13
Thomas “Moose” Praytor spent a ton of laps pacing behind Augie Grill.  The Super Late Model rookie told us that he has learned a lot in a short time and that they feel like even though the results don’t show it, they are improving.  He said after following Grill, “He takes a different line into the corners, so I’ve been trying to work on that to see if we can go faster.”
5:11
Clay Alexander is one of the drivers that practiced here last night.  The Nashville (TN) driver has work to do, but he told us that they feel like they are heading in the right direction.
5:10
Bubba Pollard is calm and relaxed coming into this weekend.  After a strong showing in the Alabama 200 last week in Montgomery, Pollard comes to Pensacola with a shot at winning the Gulf Coast Series title.  He wil have to pass Augie Grill and Grant Enfinger to do so.
5:08
Jeff Choquette is lower on the speed charts than he would like to be.  This is his first trip to Pensacola since the 2009 Snowball Derby.  Since then, the tire compound has changed here at the speedway, but to Choquette, “It’s the same ole Pensacola.”  His Adrian Carriers team continues to work on finding speed in his car.
5:06
TJ Reaid has suited up.  He hopes to get his number 41 racer on track to a least shake it down before qualifying.  His teams has worked on the starter, rear end and other odds and ends today.
5:05
Augie Grill is looking to pick up his first Blizzard Series championship tonight. (Speed51.com Photo)
5:04
In the most recent session, Stephen McCurley was quickest.

1. Stephen McCurley – 17.320
2. Jimmy Garmon – 17.504
3. Grant Enfinger – 17.557
4. Donnie Wilson – 17.607
5. Logan Boyett – 17.629

4:56
Bubba Pollard takes Speed51.com’s Matt “Duke” Kentfield for a few laps around Five Flags.
4:55
In addition to the Nasse family, Speed51.com also extends thoughts and prayers to the Long family on the passing of Johnny Long yesterday. Johnny, the father of longtime SLM competitor Donald and grandfather to Johanna Long, was a friend to many here in the Pensacola area as a local businessman and supporter of this racetrack. Johanna is here racing for “Paw-Paw” tonight.
4:54
A few drivers that were advertised by the track to be here or had it on their schedule that did not make the trip include Becca Kasten, Kenzie Ruston and Stephen Nasse. Kasten is back in Charlotte working on a gameplan for upcoming races, but will be back in action during Oktoberfest at LaCrosse (WI) next month. Kenzie Ruston and her team are also back in their Charlotte area shop getting their car ready for the CRA Super Series event at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) next week. Stephen Nasse’s grandmother passed away earlier this week and the services are being held today. There is a chance that he will compete at Auburndale Speedway (FL) tomorrow night in the Brian K. Wescott Memorial. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nasse family.
4:48

4:43

4:39
So far in practice, Mike Garvey is atop the board.

1.  Mike Garvey – 17.566
2.  Steven Davis – 17.567
3.  Grant Enfinger – 17.572
4.  Jeff Choquette 17.641
5.  Bubba Pollard – 17.679

4:33
Two sessions of Super Late Model practice are in the books. There are breaks every 15 minutes to clear the pit gates, allowing support division rigs into the infield
4:29
Logan Boyett said, “The car is pretty good. The track hasn’t quite rubbered in yet from last night’s rain. We’re gonna scuff in some tires for later and maybe try one or two things.”
4:21
TJ Reaid is watching practice in street clothes, eyein the competition. He told us he most likely will not run practice today as his team works on issues found with the car’s starter.
4:05
Practice has begun.  Clay Alexander and DJ VanderLey were the first to to fire engines and hit the track.
4:00
Pit gates are closed and practice is set to begin momentarily.
3:56
Not yet, but practice is scheduled to start in about 5 minutes.
