On the final lap of the SK heat, Keith Rocco jumped to the outside of his brother for the lead off turn two.   Jeff appeared to move up the track a bit down the backstretch and Keith got on the binders to avoid hitting the wall.   Going into turn three, Keith showed his displeasure with his twin brother by driving deep into the corner and giving Jeff’s back bumper a strong bump.   Both drivers kept their cars straight, with Jeff edging out his brother for the head race win.

Waterford Speedbowl is in the midst of its 64th consecutive season in operation.   Waterford is a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track and will be hosting a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event later this season.   The SK Modifieds are the Division I NWAAS divisiion.

The Waterford Speedbowl opened on April 15, 1951 as a 1/3 mile crushed blue stone oval race track.   The Speedbowl featured Modified stock car racing, called Sportsmen stock cars at the time. The first event winner was Bob Swift. After several weeks of operation, the dust created during green flag segments of racing became a nuisance to specators. The track closed for about a month and re-opened as an asphalt oval, which it remains today.

Roy Seidell, Jr. is making his return to the Valenti Modified Racing Series race since June of 2013.   Seidell  has been  battling  cancer for the past few months, but Seidell is in better health this weekend and is back behind the wheel of his No. 22 Modified.
