Tom Hessert told us that so far he is pleased with the new Ilmor engine. He said one big thing he has noticed is that it gets up to speed faster at Daytona. He also applauds ARCA’s decision to go to the motor saying the initial investment may cost some money, but in the long run he feels it will save the teams a few dollars.

Frahm is planning to run the race in February to gain approval by NASCAR so he can compete in the Xfinity Series race. Althought he has experience in the series, he has not been approved as of yet to race on the super speedway.

Veteran driver and 8-time ARCA Daytona winner Bobby Gerhart was very vocal in this morning’s Drivers Meeting reminding new drivers to stay in constant contact with their spotters as things happen very quickly at the 2.5 mile tri-oval.

Gerhart also reiterated the officials earlier comments of respecting the privelage of racing at such a storied venue.

The ARCA Racing Series has been a mainstay at DIS since 1964.

It appears that the first driver on-track today will be David Levine (68) in the Gary Yeoman’s Ford sponsored entry for Kimmel Racing.

Cars are limited to 10 laps at a time for single car runs.

They will be permitted to run in maximum of 6 car groups as that is the way they will qualify for the race in February.
