The Flip Merwin Memorial is an event in honor of longtime friend of the Wimmer family and a champion snowmobile racer who lost his life in a tragic racing accident. This will also be the first event of SPS’s Auto Select Triple X Challenge Series, where a driver has the opportunity to take home an additional $15,000 if they win the Flip Merwin Memorial, Larry Detjens Memorial and the Lodi Memorial events this season. One unique feature at Dells Raceway Park is the entrance to the pits off of turn two. Scott Sauerbrei came up with the idea a few years ago. He said that one time a school bus hit the tire "point" and the tires bounced the bus back onto the track. Scott just told me that if it stop a bus, it can stop a race car.
7:34
Must be a Chris Eggleston fan! He has had a long day already. He had a bracket break in practice, but got it fixed. If you scroll back to the earlier coverage today, you can see the broken part.
