Practice has ended for the ARCA Midwest Tour super late models.  We will have a full rundown shortly.  The Midwest Tour Trucks are now on track for practice.
12:31
The Yellow River Racing Series is a special Super Late Model three-race event held throughout the summer at the half-mile Marshfield Motor Speedway, located in central Wisconsin.  The first event will be held on Saturday, May 11 with a 75-lap feature event. A full racing program will start at 6:30pm.

Marshfield Motor Speedway originally opened as a dirt track in 1977 and was changed to an asphalt track in 1996. The wide progressively banked half-mile with sweeping turns will again feature Super Late Model action on Saturday Nights from April through September during the 2013 season. The other YRRS dates are July 25 and September 13-14. Check out www.marshfieldspeedway.com for more information.

One note on the entry list. Tim Schendel is a scratch for today. In practice yesterday he made hard contact with the wall coming out of turn two. Schendel told us that something broke causing him to go into the wall.

The Joe Shear Classic is a 100-lap event with a 12-minute break on after 64 laps.  This will set up a 36-lap shootout for the win.  Why 36? That was the car # of the late Midwest great who passed away from cancer in 1998.  Shear won track championship at Madison, mostly back when it was called Capital Super Speedway. He won championships in 1973, 74, 80, and 82.  In 1982, he won seven features in a row.  That streak was stopped by the legendary Dick Trickle.
10:39
We are waiting for an official entry list for today from Midwest Tour officials, but we were told there are about 33 cars on the grounds for today’s race.
10:37
The weather today is great for this event.  Looking at sunny skies with a high of 74 degrees. Next chance of rain is Thursday.  If you live in the Madison area, we encourage you to come out to Madison International Speedway and see the event in person and bring your smartphone and enjoy Speed51.com’s Trackside Now coverage to enhance your experience while at the track.
