Comment From Guest

That was a great save by hemric

11:20

Poore went to the pits and drove through the X at the center of the track's figure-eight course, where the pit crews are set up, at near-full speed. He then drove off the track to his trailer.

11:20

Both 7 Allman and 27 Poore are done for the night. 99 Hopkins was also involved and is in the pits with heavy damage.

11:19

Hemric and Poore, starting first and second, made contact at the drop of the green flag. It appeared that Poore came down on Hemric and turned Hemric due right headed towards the outside wall at the flag stand. Hemric bobbed and weaved, but somehow - and miraculously - saved it to hold the lead. Several cars piled in after the initial contact, with Allman getting the worst of the wear. He'll go off on the hook.

11:16

9:08

Next up will be the 100-lap "Willy's Race" for the track's McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models.

William Mefford passed away in 2011 after a crash here at Anderson Speedway. He was a veteran campaigner of Late Models both here and at Mt. Lawn Speedway. He was a friend of many in the racing world in this area and his loss is still felt by racers and fans alike. This is the second running of "Willy's Race" here at Anderson. Last year's event was won by Jason Atkinson, but Atkinson will not be competing after suffering engine problems in qualifying earlier today.

8:48

8:44

CHECKERED FLAG: Snyder wins the Anderson 100 presented by JEGS.com over Hemric, Nelms, Downey and Coughlin.

8:43

Three to go for Snyder.

8:43

Lap 95, 5 to go: Snyder is quicker than Hemric on the timing board.

8:42

8:40

Ali Kern is the free pass and will be 10th, the final car on the lead lap.

8:40

We're doubled up. Lap and a half until the green.

8:40

The outside groove on the restart has not been kind to the second-place restarter so far tonight. This yellow may not have been what Hemric was looking for.

8:34

Hemric had just gotten to the inside of Nelms in turn three when the caution was thrown for the debris.

8:33

YELLOW FLAG Lap 75: Debris in turn one.

8:32

Lap 67: Hemric is on the back bumper of Nelms for second.

8:26

YELLOW FLAG Lap 61: Wes Griffith, Jr. slows with a flat right-front tire. He pulled to a stop in turn four then pulled to pit road.

8:26

8:21

Downey and now Coughlin have gotten by Foley.

2. Woodin
3. Griffith
4. Nelms
5. Bowen
6. Hemric

9. Downey
10. Coughlin

8:19

Lap 29: Keith Sterkowitz comes to the pits slowly and appears done for the day.

8:18

Lap 22: Bowen gets by Foley. Foley tries to shut the door on Hemric but instead grazes the outside wall and comes down on Hemric's right front. All cars continued on without much more damage. Bowen is now fifth, Hemric sixth and Foley seventh.

8:17

Lap 20: Snyder leads by six car lengths on Woodin. Same gap back to Griffith and Nelms. Another 10 car lengths back to the big gaggle for fifth.

8:16

8:13

GREEN FLAG: Woodin and Foley stay double-file for the first lap before Woodin edges to the lead to complete the first lap.

8:09

Pace laps have begun. Sixteen JEGS Tour cars begin cycling the quarter-mile here at Anderson.

8:08

Remember folks, tonight's radio broadcast is the feed of the track's PA, so you may hear some brief lapses from the announcers talking, but they'll be back.

Cars are starting to get into place here on the front stretch. There will be brief driver intros and we'll go green with tonight's JEGS Tour event.

7:54

Even though we're a few minutes away from the start of tonight's action, the radio broadcast is now live. You'll hear music for a while until the JEGS Tour Series Announcer Matt Prieur and track announcer Denny Adams will have the call of tonight's JEGS Tour race. We won't be able to carry the Willie's Race on radio, but we'll still have the Trackside Now coverage here on Speed51.com.

7:17

Even though he was narrowly edged out for the pole in the JEGS Tour qualifying round, Daniel Hemric made up for it by setting fast time for "Willy's Race," the track's MEP Late Model division 100 lap feature over Joshua Poore, Billie VanMeter and Brandon Phillips.

6:27

JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour cars are beginning to assemble on the infield figure-eight course to get ready for qualifying.

6:26

No, it's the track's McGunegill Engine Performance Late Model division.  It's not a Pro or Super Late Model, more of a Late Model Sportsman car on a treaded tire.

6:26

Comment From calvin

is the willy's race a super late model race?

6:25

Every so often, we like to throw a camera inside the car of a driver who really knows how to get around a certain track while we at Speed51.com are on hand.  Here at Anderson Speedway, it's hard to find someone in this weekend's field who knows Anderson as well as three-time ARCA/CRA Super Series Anderson winner Johnny VanDoorn.

Ride along with Johnny, or his new nickname Stan Donner, during Redbud 300 practice for the ARCA/CRA Super Series earlier today in the latest edition of Speed51.com On Track

6:21

The next on-track action will be JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour qualifying.  That was scheduled for 6:15pm, but we're expecting it to start shortly.

Ruston, yes. Nasse, no. In fact, Nasse missed his flight last night due to traffic back home in Florida, so he is currently on another flight here. He should arrive soon and his crew has the car ready to go for him.

It's currently approximately 80-degrees with a light mist falling from the sky.  The pesky mist has been around on and off all morning long after several huge thunderstorms hit this area last night.  The Central Indiana area was desperately in need for some rain, as the region has been under drought warnings for several weeks.

The good news in terms of this weekend's events is that the rain is NOT going to stick around all day.  Forecasts have it gone by now and not returning  for several days.  Though for our friends in this area, we hope for more rain after we finish racing here at Anderson.

12:46

Good morning from Anderson, Indiana, where today Anderson Speedway's Late Model Weekend kicks off with the JEGS 100 for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour and "Willy's Race," a 100-lap feature for the track's McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models to honor William Mefford, a local racing legend who passed away earlier last year in a crash here at the track.
