Comment From Jason

have the cars whose times have been disallowed been thrown out of the event completely or just qualifying??

7:08
We spoke to ARCA officials, Tech officials are still looking at the #23 car of Spencer Gallagher. Until they have completed that inspection, they will put together the starting lineup. Our current plan is to stay on with our coverage until we have the lineup and have a confirmation on Gallagher's car.

TECH UPDATE: It was a spring infraction on the 23 of Gallagher, according to an ARCA official.
5:53
TECH UPDATE: While Spencer Gallagher's time has been disallowed on the official score sheet provided by ARCA officials, the team isn't giving up the fight yet. The 23 remains in the tech area and crew members continue working on the rear end of the car while ARCA officials look on.
5:49
TECH UPDATE: According to Cunningham Motorsports crew chief Paul Andrews, a shim fell out of Tyler Reddick's car from where the truck arm connects to the rear end housing. That shim was put in to conform the rear end to ARCA's specifications. Without the shim in tech, the rear end was deemed to be outside the rules, thus the reason for his qualifying time to be disallowed.

Benny Gordon, a former USAR Hooters Pro Cup Champion, locked into the field with the No. 11 car through time trials. As mentioned yesterday, Gordon was a late entrant into the event after Clay Rogers, who was previously scheduled to compete in the car, was scratched. Rogers, a five-time Pro Cup champion, suffered a broken wrist in the SpeedFest CRA Super Late Model event last month. 51 has spoken with Rogers, who is at New Smyrna Speedway this week working with Steven Wallace's Super Late Model team, and Rogers has been cleared to race and could have taken the wheel at Daytona. Team sponsorship had fallen through and a funded driver was going to be necessary to put the car on track even after Rogers was cleared to race, however. Gordon had some backing that helped foot the bill and will compete in the 200-mile event tomorrow.
4:29
TECH UPDATE: Billy Gerhart, Bobby's brother and crew chief, told 51 that "there was something (ARCA Officials) didn't like about the U-bolts." Gerhart said the car met all height requirements but the parts in question were never checked all weekend prior to pre-qualifying tech. "This is the third time I've been disqualified for something that wasn't checked in tech," added Billy Gerhart. "When I came down here and we qualified for the (NASCAR Nationwide Series) race here in July, when that car crossed the line, I knew I was in the race. That's because NASCAR checks everything beforehand."
4:28
Gallagher said that in the back of your head things could go wrong and you need to be on top of it. He said the fear of that goes away as soon as the visor goes down.
4:28
Kwasniewski said that you need to trust in yourself and instinct. Don't doubt yourself.

Elliott thinks it will be wild and to stay out of trouble. Gallagher said the biggest thing to get through is the shear claustrophobia of the draft. It is a mental game.
4:24
Kwasniewski said this is a clean slate for him running on a big track. He said insight from the other drivers have helped. He hopes to complete the most laps.
4:23
Kwasniewski is making his second start and earned his second pole. He is excited to start on the pole for Turner Scott Motorsports. He hopes to draft with Gallagher and Elliott.
4:22

Millbridge Speedway is the new breeding ground for future NASCAR stars! In 2011 the Burnett’s took over Millbridge Speedway to convert it to a premier Outlaw Kart Track! The track has seen much needed improvements over the last 3 years including new lights, new walls, and a new configuration for 2013. The Mini Outlaw karts put on an amazing show with 2 and 3 wide racing throughout the field. Millbridge Speedway is only open on select Wednesday nights for racing. This enables people who travel or race at other venues on the weekends to race with us and has a good time during the week. Click here for more information.

Another change for Daytona is the size of the restrictor plate. The plate size for the older generation engines has increased 1/32nd of an inch to 7/8 of an inch. The plates on the new generations of Toyota, Chevrolet and Ford engines have increased by 1/64 of an inch to 55/64 of an inch total. The ARCA Competition Committee felt the move was necessary to increase competitiveness among the various engines in the ARCA garage.

This year, the ARCA Racing Series will have larger spoilers for Daytona going from 57 inches to 59 inches wide. The height will remain at 6.5 inches. The goal with this change is the increase the ability of cars to pass.

Because aerodynamics are so crucial at a superspeedway like Daytona, ARCA officials are ensuring all teams push their cars from the tech line to the qualifying grid from the car's C-posts only, with one additional crew member steering the car from outside the driver's window. Officials don't want any leaning on fenders or quarter panels.

Mason Mitchell comes to Daytona with a new team this year, Mason Mitchell Motorsports. Last year, he started 23rd and finished 13th. Some hard work even before qualifying begins for Virginia's Derrick Lancaster. Lancaster's car remains in the garage while all other cars are either in the tech line or on the qualifying grid. Lancaster said he had issues in tech caused by a rear sprint out of the bucket it is housed in and the front sway bar was pre-loaded when it shouldn't have been. The Lancaster crew is back in the garage and will have to roll through tech once again before the 56 is allowed to qualify.

Yesterday, defending ARCA Racing Series Champion Frank Kimmel didn't have the practice day that he and his new Win-Tron team were looking for.

"We had a miss in the motor early on that set us back a bit, but we think we have it cured," Kimmel said. "We think we had a faulty fuel pressure regulator that was screwing up what was going to the carburetor. It was really strange, but I'm glad it happened then rather than in the race. It was actually a blessing that our practice session was cut short short to fix this problem."
