We just got back from post race tech.  After tearing down the racecars of Bubba Pollard, Mike Garvey, Brandon Bendele, and DJ VanderLey, both Pollard and Garvey have been disqualified for post tech rules infractions in their valve trains.  With the disqualifications, Brandon Bendele has been declared the race winner, and DJ VanderLey the Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series Champion, UNOFFICIALLY.  Please let me stress that these results are UNOFFICIAL.  Official results will be coming later in the week.

ONE TO GO… NEXT TIME BY:  The field comes to green, two by two.  Once again, yellow flag laps do not count.  Tonight’s scheduled distance is 100 laps.

9:54
Two to go at the line.
9:54

BACK ‘EM DOWN:  The field is once again at pace speed.  This race is about to go green.

9:53

SPEED ‘EM UP:  The pace car is bringing the field up to little bit faster pace for a few laps.  This is done to help put heat in the Hoosier tires in an effort to prevent a blow out on the first few laps from low pressure.

9:52

WAVE BY:  On this lap, the field of drivers waves to the crowd, saluting these great fans for their patronage to the speedway tonight.

9:52
For DJ VanderLey to win the Championship, he must finish four (4) spots ahead of points leader Bubba Pollard.  That is the race for the title.
9:51

PACE LAPS:  The field is now rolling behind the pace car.  This race’s pace speed and pit road speed is 35 mph.

BENJAMIN’S FAVORITE TRACK – Kyle Benjamin loves Five Flags Speedway.  The Easley (SC) driver at only 13 years old has already made a name for himself as one of the best Pro Late Model drivers in the Deep South.  Benjamin loves the challenge of racing at the Penacola high banked oval.  He equates it to some of NASCAR’s toughest tracks.

“That’s my favorite track,” said Benjamin.  “It’s a Darlington for Late Models; it’s the most fun to drive.”

Benjamin comes back to Pensacola looking to score his second win here, and the third of his season in Late Model racing.  After winning the Azera 100 earlier in the season, he had this to say:

“I’ve always wanted to win here,” said Benjamin.  “This is the coolest win ever.  It’s so hard to win here and I’m so happy to have won.”

BUGGAY IN THE HUNT FOR THE TITLE (A snippet of an article from Chuck Corder)

Dwayne Buggay likes having his hands full.

At Five Flags Speedway, Buggay is a fan favorite who has run at the front of the pack in the Allen Turner Pro Late Models series this season.

“It’s beginning to be my favorite racetrack even though it has not served us well,” joked Buggay, who has never won in Pensacola. “It’s almost like I’m demanding myself to conquer it. I’m not giving up on it until I beat that racetrack.”

He doesn’t knowing the meaning of quit.

When Buggay returns to his native Canton, Ga., the 47-year-old businessman rarely catches his breath.

Buggay owns a pair of car dealerships just outside of Atlanta and recently opened a third in Destin. He is a real estate developer and runs an animal rescue farm.

Buggay also founded the Buggay Motorsports Driving School and Rental Program at Lanier National Speedway where he has discovered several, young talented late model drivers.

Wore out yet just reading that?

Buggay’s busy schedule brings him to Pensacola on Saturday for the Allen Turner Snowflake Tune Up 100, as Five Flags closes the regular season with the Night of Champions.

The weather for tonight’s race is great! The current temperture in Pensacola (FL) is 83 degress.  Tonight’s low is expected to be 66 degress.  Large, white clouds surround the speedway among a brilliant blue sky.  There is a slight breeze sweeping through the grounds providing just the right amount of comfort here in Florida.  Come on out and see some racing!
