Spoke with John Bolen, the car he is driving has a lot of history.  The machine is a GARC chassis orginaly built for Neil Bonnett’s son, Justin.  The car then became one of Charile Bradberry’s rides.  After Bradberry’s passing, the car sat in the GARC shop until being pulled out for John Bolen today.  Today marks Bolen’s return to Late Model racing after a firery crash in the season opener.

Tyler Miles may have a tire issue, even before the race.  The team found a cut in one of the tires that’s about a foot long, going the length of the tire.  At present time, Tyler’s Mom is telling us that the cut doesn’t look too bad, and they will roll with it.  As we learn more, we will pass along the information.

After scoring his 14th win of the season at Gresham Motorsports Park in Georgia, Bubba Pollard is here today trying to score his first win at Montgomery Motor Speedway.  To do so, he will have work his way through the field.  Because Pollard was not here yesterday, he along with Augie Grill, Chase Elliott and Roger Reuse will start from the rear.

“No practice laps,” said Pollard.  “It is what it is.  I think we’ll be alright, and we’ll have plenty of time to make pit stops to work on the car.”

WELCOME RACE FANS, TODAY IS RACEDAY! — Welcome to Speed51.com’s coverage of the Alabama 200 presented by Atlanta Thrifty Nickel.  It’s a beautiful day for racing here at the Montgomery Motor Speedway.  Today’s race is scheduled for 200 green flag laps; caution flag laps will not count.  At lap 125, there will be a competition caution, setting up a 75 lap sprint to the finish.

This is the final round of the Show Me the Money Series for 2011.  Hunter Robbins leads the points standings by 42 over Jason Young.  After speaking with Young before pole qualifying, he told us that it’s going to take something big for us to take the championship.

“It’s probably going to take Hunter crashing out early for us to have a shot,” said Young.  “42 points is a lot  to make up in one race.  We are here to win the race; the points will take care of themselves.”

The battle for third through fifth in the points chase is between Kyle Benjamin, Bobby Reuse and Tyler Miles.  Kyle Benjamin choose not to attend the Alabama 200 as they prepare their cars for races further into the latter part of the season.

We are having to do some rebuilds to get ready for the rest of the year,” said Steven Benjaimin, Kyle’s father.  “We are having to omit a couple of races from the schedule to make it happen both physically and financially.”

Benjamin’s absence opens the door for either Bobby Reuse or Tyler Miles to claim third place.  The two drivers are only 14 markers behind Benjamin and one point separates Miles from Reuse.

“We’ve run very constant here recently,” said Miles.  “We have a good car and shot at the win today.”
