Congrats to Eddie Macdonald on the win

5:34
CHECKERED: Eddie MacDonald becomes the first three-time winner of the Bond ACT Invitational over Wayne Helliwell, Brian Hoar, Aaron Fellows, and Joey Pole.
5:34
Lap 49 - WHITE FLAG: Eddie MacDonald crashed out while leading the NASCAR K & N Pro Series East race earlier today, but the "Outlaw" is about to get some sweet revenge as he is moments away from winning the ACT Invitational.
5:33
Lap 48: Two to go. Dery has gotten by Sweet for 8th.
5:33
Lap 46: Drivers still mired in the 15th to 25th range include Hebert, Parent, Atkins, Bpouvrette, Therrien, and Taylor Martin.
5:32
Lap 45: Five to go. Eddie MacDonald looks to go 3-for-5 in the Bond ACT Invitational. Labbe is now applying the pressure to Luce for 10th.
5:31
Lap 44: MacDonald now starting to open it up. Give him eight carlengths on Helliwell. Robinson slows down the backstretch and pulls in.
5:31
Lap 42: Luce, Aube, Labbe, Stearns, and Lynch now run nose to tail for 10th through 14th as they have also put on a torrid battle in recent laps.
5:30
Lap 40: Ten laps to go. The Bond ACT Invitational seems to be coming down to MacDonald and Helliwell. They are nose to tail. We should also note that from about 15th to 25th, they have been running two-wide and three-wide this entire race. These drivers may not have the power or handling to contend for the win today but they are putting on a show for the fans.
5:29
Lap 39: MacDonald with a three carlength lead on Helliwell. Hoar starting to fade a bit.
5:28
Lap 38: Four car battle now for tenth. Aube is alongside Luce for 10th while Labbe and Stearns fight right behind them.
5:28
The lead trio rumbles towards turn three. (Speed51.com photo)
5:28
Lap 37: Luce hangs onto 10th over Aube while Labbe comes to the 12th spot.
5:27
Lap 36: Behind the top-five, you have Tom Carey running 6th, early leader Quinten Welch 7th, Nick Sweet 8th, Jean Francois Dery 9th, and then a side-by-side battle between Aube and Luce for 10th.
5:26
Lap 35: Still door to door for second. Finally give Helliwell as they exit Turn Four. Fellows and Pole in fourth and fifth struggling to make any ground on the leaders.
5:26
Hoar leads MacDonald down the back stretch. (Speed51.com photo)
5:26
Lap 33: Helliwell tries to follow MacDonald through. Hoar hangs on to second at the line by a nose.
5:25
Lap 33: MacDonald pulls out at the stripe and powers to the lead in Turn One and Two.
5:25
Lap 32: MacDonald takes second from Helliwell and quickly eats into Hoar's advantage.
5:25
Lap 32: Now Welch gets squirrelly exiting Turn Four. It's Fellows to fourth, Pole to fifth, Carey to sixth, and Welch to seventh.
5:24
Lap 31: Pole snaps sideways exiting Turn Two, allowing Welch to reclaim fifth and Fellows to take a spot as well.
5:24
Lap 30: Pole pulls out and draws along Welch for fourth. Fellows and Carey watching that battle closely as they await a passing lane.
5:24
The top-two cars, Hoar and Helliwell are pitted next to each other on pit road. Their crews watch on side-by-side as the drivers battle for the top spot.
5:23
Lap 29: A three-carlength lead for Helliwell. MacDonald now riding Helliwell's bumper. Dery making strides under Luce as he wants 9th.
5:22
Lap 28: Hoar goes back to the lead over Helliwell. MacDonald, Welch, and Pole are your top-five.
5:22
Lap 27: Hoar and Helliwell even at the line as Hoar wants the lead back. MacDonald meanwhile under Welch for third.
5:21
Lap 26: Now Hoar bump drafts with Helliwell down the frontstretch.
5:21
RESTART: Much better restart and they were even into one. But Hoar overdrove the center of that corner, allowing Helliwell to split the middle and take the lead.
5:20
Welch's crew informed ACT officials that Welch hit the kill switch as they came to green, so they never displayed the flag and we will completely redo that restart.
5:19
RESTART: Welch does not getting going at all and the field stacks up. We go back to yellow as that was an ugly restart but luckily without any contact.
5:18
Cars are lined up and ready to go green. (Speed51.com Photo)
5:17

5:07
Brian Hoar's crew keeps an eye at the front of the field. (Speed51.com photo)
5:06
Lap 22: Nick Sweet making a run here as he goes under Luce for 8th. Those two trail Stearns and that trio as a whole is starting to inch up on the leaders a bit.
5:06
Lap 21: Welch has really pulled away. Then come the "favorites" - Hoar, MacDonald, Helliwell, and Pole. They seem content to save their stuff for a while and keep each other in check.
5:05
Lap 19: But Pole has to pull back in line. We are still three-wide from 20th to about 28th as they roar down the frontstretch.
5:04
Lap 18: MacDonald fights back though and reclaims third. Helliwell's lost momentum allows Pole to pull under him entering Turn Three.
5:04
Lap 17: Quinten Welch gets back by Hoar for the lead and immediately takes off by a few carlengths. Then Helliwell by MacDonald for third, followed by Pole and Fellows.
5:03
Lap 16: Hoar leads Welch, MacDonald, Fellows, Helliwell, and Pole. Those top-six have separated themselves from the rest of the pack.
5:03
Lap 15: Helliwell meanwhile has come to fifth and is pressuring both Fellows and MacDonald. Welch further up tries a lower line entering Turn Three as he looks for some grip to get by Hoar.
5:02
Lap 14: Welch is not letting Hoar get away as Welch is riding his bumper. And MacDonald is not without a challenge for third as Aaron Fellows runs right on his tire tracks.
5:01
Lap 13: Three-wide again around 15th. It's Dery and Caron bouncing off each other as they jockey for a spot entering Turn One.
5:01
RESTART: Hoar goes to the lead exiting Turn Two as he clears Welch. MacDonald hangs on to third.
5:00
Coming to green. Hoar (+13), MacDonald (+23), Helliwell (+9), and Pole (+14) your big movers thus far.

4:55
Lap 12: Helliwell and Pole putting pressure on Fellows for 7th.
4:54
Lap 12: MacDonald by Stearns for fourth.
4:54
Lap 11: Three wide as Jean Franocis Dery invented a line on the apron to fight Sweet and others around 15th.
4:53
Lap 10: Helliwell to 9th (+7) and Joey Pole to 10th (+12) after starting deep in the grid.
4:53
Lap 9: Welch with a six carlength lead. MacDonald to sixth.
4:53
Lap 9: Hoar is by Stearns for third.
4:52
Lap 8: Welch leads Mercer, Stearns, Hoar, Aube. And here comes Eddie MacDonald to 7th.
4:52
Lap 7: Welch goes back by Stearns for the lead and now Mercer goes on by for second. Hoar watching this action in fourth. Helliwell ducks out and makes it three-wide going into Turn One around 10th.
4:51
Lap 6: Three-wide in the back of the top-ten as MacDonald has come to 8th from the 26th starting spot.
4:51
Lap 5: Mercer literally bump drafts Stearns back to the lead at the stripe as they go by Welch.
4:50
RESTART: Dead even at the line with Stearns getting a nose ahead down the backstretch. Mercer by Hoar for third.
4:50
A bleeder stuck on the left rear tire of Ray Parent's car forced him to come down pit road under yellow.

4:38
Lap 4: Stearns hasn't quite given up on the lead yet, but finally after a full lap of battle, he has to tuck in.
4:37
Lap 4: Hoar blasts by Aube on the outside to take third place.
4:37
Lap 3: Now Welch draws up to Stearns door for the lead in Turn Three. Give Welch the lead at the line by a fender.

The 51st Annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl is an event on many short track fans bucket list. This year’s event will take place on October 5-6 at the famous Vermont track. Drivers will compete in a three-segment event with the hopes of drinking the fresh milk and immortalizing themselves by kissing a cow. It has become one of the more popular short track events in the United States. For more information, please visitwww.thunderroadspeedbowl.com.
10:46
Due to the high speeds at NHMS, series officials are not going to tolerate unnecessary contact. "If you bump and run, your day is done" says Curley.
10:44
Curley has announced there will be 8-10 races in the US for 2014, in addition to some of the non-points specials. They also are looking to have a special in southern New England, and will announce more possibly next week at the Milk Bowl. He said the 2014 season will probably start at Lee in mid-April
10:42
Curley is using Helliwell and, yes, a baby doll to drive home his point about chassis manipulation (Speed51.com Photo)
10:40
Curley is also using this meeting to remind teams that the rulebook prohibits rear weight transfer after what he calls a rash of springs falling out of cars this year. He is concerned that chassis builders are making this racing more expensive and it seems a tech crackdown is coming
10:35
Comment From Shane Crombie

Great run for Mercer in practice. Came from the rear of the field on lap 9to get a top 10 in 2012. Could be one to watch this afternoon. Go get'm Silverback. Thanks for keeping us all informed on all the short track action in 2013 Speed51. From your followers north of the border.

10:34
Tom Curley is very upbeat about the teams have shown today, ACT machines running just a second and a half slower than the Cup teams. "Step forward if you have a $20 million a year budget," he jokes.
10:33

Yesterday, ACT and Thunder Road officials announced a change to the format for the 51st Annual People's United Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road Speedbowl (VT).

Instead of running one 50-lap segment and two 75-lap segments, the race will return to three 50-lap segments.

“The 50-lap segments were always more volatile,” said Thunder Road Promoter Tom Curley. “The third and final segment was the highlight of the Milk Bowl, as drivers had to go flat out every lap. The 75-lap segments allowed drivers to relax and gave them too much time to work their way through traffic. That isn’t what the Milk Bowl is about. It’s about white-knuckled, up-on-the-wheel, three-wide for the win action. It’s what makes the Milk Bowl the ‘Toughest Short Track Event in North America’.”

Ray Parent said he was glad he didn't lock up his brakes trying to avoids the spinning Ricky Roberts car. If he had, he likely would've hit Roberts even harder. Parent admitted he was lucky to not get any damage in the incident, adding that his car is just as good as it was here last year when he drove to victory lane. The a Rhode Islander added that his car had some ignition issues early in practice, which is what his crew will be addressing now. He also added that his times may not turn heads on the speed chart because he never put an all-out lap on his new tires in practice.
9:13
Ricky Roberts tells us his car broke lose on the bottom and he wasn't able to save it before backing into the wall. "We'll fix it up and be out there fore the race," Roberts said. "It won't look pretty, but we'll be out there."

Joey Polewarczyk tells us the car was really good at the start of practice when the track was cold but tightened up a bit as the track got more grip. "We're going to try to free it up a bit with the track gaining more grip throughout the day," Polewarczyk said. "Usually we're trying to find grip. Here, we're trying to lose it."

YELLOW FLAG here in practice for a crash in turn one involving Ricky Roberts and defending ACT Invitational winner Ray Parent. Roberts got loose going into turn one and did a long half-spin before backing into the outside turn one wall. Parent was behind Roberts at the time and tried to slow down to avoid Roberts' spinning car, but couldn't completely. Parent's car kissed Roberts' car as it sat against the outside wall.

Today's race is a non-points race for the ACT Late Model Tours.

The Serie ACT, based in Quebec, has in fact already completed their championship season. Jean Francois Dery beat Alex Labbe by just eight points after a season-long duel that saw both drivers visit Victory Lane twice.

The finale for the US ACT tour is one week from today at Airborne International Raceway in Plattsburgh, NY. Defending series champ Wayne Helliwell, Jr. looks to be in good shape to take home the 2013 title, but a bad day for Helliwell may open the door for Joey Pole (-41 points) or Jimmy Hebert (-62) to take the title.

7:59
While the fog burns off here this morning, Eddie MacDonald, a former winner of this race, said he will be waiting things out for the first little while in practice. He is in his car and ready to go when the first group assesses the conditions.
