Late Model qualifying has wrapped up here at a very cold and damp Thunder Road. The Tiger Sportsmen are running there Saturday night feature race currently, but we are going to wrap up our coverage for today. Kudos to the track crew at Thunder Road for getting qualifying races in on a day where nobody would have thought that to be possible. If you are in New England, be sure to come on up to Vermont tomorrow to catch the 50th Annual Milk Bowl in person. If you can’t make it, join us for our Trackside Now coverage starting in the morning. Thank you for logging in and good night!

There is no last chance race scheduled for the Milk Bowl – so if you don’t get a provisional and don’t transfer into the race tonight, you are done….sort of….this year, a “Mini Milk Bowl” has been added to Sunday’s race lineup. This will be two segments in length with $3,000 going to its winner.

how many cars trying to make the race?

6:22
Wayne Helliwell, Jr. is the ACT point leader, but he is running deep in the field right now.
6:21
Lap seven – Joey Pole leads Glen Luce, Cris Michaud, Scott Payea and Jeff Taylor in the transfer spots.
6:21
There was a little bit of confusion of the final transfer spot. In the first two qualifying races, the top six would advance if one of the guaranteed front row starters finish in the top six. Since both Dave Pembroke and Brian Hoar pulled off the track, that meant that only the top five finishers qualified. This means that Patrick Laperle and Brent Dragon are now yet in the starting field for the Milk Bowl tomorrow.
6:19
Comment From Ralph Kinney

how many laps are the qualifiers?

6:07
The caution is out at lap 37 for a spin by Ricky Roberts.
6:07
I don’t know for sure, but I would be shocked if Brian Hoar dropped out for mechanical reasons. He basically just pulled high on the track and let Theriault go by.
6:07

Cody Blake runs second with Trampas Demers, John Donahue, Patrick Laperle and Bryan Mason also in transfer spots.
5:47
Nick Sweet is leading as Dave Pembroke has just pulled off the track.
5:47
Jimmy Hebert was just given the “Piggy Flag” for hogging up the track. Three displays of the piggy flag means a black flag for any Thunder Road or ACT competitor.
5:46

5:17
Brian Hoar – “The last race we were here, we won from the outside (pole), so maybe this one will work out for us.”
5:17
Dave Pembroke – “This is pretty cool….a lot of cars show up here and to be the fastest one, I’m pretty happy about that.”
5:15
Late Model qualifying is now wrapped up. Dave Pembroke and Brian Hoar will share the front row while the other drivers will have to take part in heat races to make it into the Milk Bowl starting field.
5:14
Travis Sterns bounced off the frontstretch wall during that qualifying session. He has moderate damage to the right front of his #85 car.

4:14
The next group of qualifiers is now on the track – they are Dave Farrington, Pat Flloyd, Ricky Roberts and Lance Allen.
4:10
Originally, there were going to be straight-up time trials for the ACT Late Models, but the weather delays altered the plans for that slightly. Now, the teams will time trial in groups of four. One group of four did hit the track and Brian Hoar turned in a blistering sub-13 second lap. Only one minute and forty seconds in the second group (which is made up of Patrick Laperle, Ricky Rolfe, Nick Sweet and Jamie Aube), there was another rain delay. After some track track efforts, that group is now back on track.
4:05
Welcome to Thunder Road Speedbowl (VT) as we prepare for Sunday’s Milk Bowl ACT Late Model event. Mother Nature has put a damper on today’s activities, but the track officials and workers here at Thunder Road have not given up. There have been rain delays and mist delays, but right now we are having the Late Models circle the track in an effort to put some heat into the racing surface and their tires in hopes of getting heat races underway to set the field for tomorrow’s main event. We will bring you up to speed shortly.
