SNOWBALL DERBY TECH UPDATE: Erik Jones' car has cleared tech. Jones is officially the winner of the 46th annual Snowball Derby presented by JEGS. This marks his second consecutive victory in the race, the first driver to do it since Augie Grill do so in 2007 and 2008.

6:49

The tungsten piece in front of the photo posted at 6:45 weighs approximately 36 pounds. The pieces of lead behind it weigh approximately 20 pounds. The reason officials have a "no tungsten" rule is because tungsten is considerably more expensive than lead. Tracks, series and events enforce this rule in order to keep costs as low as possible for teams.

For those just joining us, we are still waiting to declare an official winner of the 46th Snowball Derby. Bond Suss, Kyle Busch Motorsports Super Late Model team manager told 51 of Elliott's tungsten, "Was it the difference in why (Elliott) won the race? No. But, something had to be done about it."

Five Star Race Car Bodies is presenting the Tested Tough Award during the Snowball Derby week on Speed51.com. The driver who shows strengths that go above and beyond normal activities on or around the racetrack will be awarded the Five Star Tested Tough Award. The winner will receive a product certificate from Five Star.

Five Star Race Car Bodies is leading the short track racecar body industry with decades of winning technology. For more, visit www.fivestarbodies.com.

Saturday's Tested Tough Award is also the Speed51.com Hal Goodson Award. The Goodson Award honors the driver who had the most trouble getting to the finish of the Snowball Derby, but still saw the checkered flag.

This year's Hal Goodson/Tested Tough Award goes to Derek Thorn. The Californian destroyed his racecar in a late-race flip and crash two years ago. Still, Thorn had enough cojones to come back to Pensacola and attempt the Snowball Derby again. For his efforts, Thorn is returning to California with a solid 10th-place finish.

Quarter Master is the proud sponsor of Speed51.com's Clutch Performance of the Day. The award will be given during Snowball Derby week to the driver who came through the most in the clutch, overcoming the odds to have an impressive performance.

Quarter Master is moving driveline technology forward. The winner of the daily award will receive a product certificate from Quarter Master. Visit Quarter Master online atwww.quartermasterusa.com.

Sunday's Quarter Master Clutch Performance goes to Grant Enfinger. Enfinger finished an impressive third in the Snowball Derby on just seven cylinders. To top things off, when he pulled into post-race tech, his right-front tire was missing a lugnut and two more of the lugs had come loose, meaning he was barely hanging on to his podium finish.

Each day during Snowball Derby week, Speed51.com will award a RE Suspension "Shock of the Day" Award presented by RE Suspension. The award will go to the driver that provided the most shocking moment of each day at Five Flags Speedway.

The winner of each day's "Shock of the Day" award will receive a product certificate from RE Suspension. Visit them in the infield at the track or online atwww.resuspension.com.

Sunday's Shock of the Day was provided by Donnie Wilson. The Oklahoman was in contention for victory throughout the 46th Annual Snowball Derby Presented by JEGS. While it's not a shock that Wilson was fast and up front, the shocking part came in him still having a shot at a good finish after getting moved out of the groove and dropped deeper in the field. Wilson ended up finishing 11th.

David Rogers earned the hard-charger award of the race for his 32nd to seventh place run. "We had a good long run car and when you start in the back like we did, that certainly is a good thing." The 58-year-old from Orlando, Florida stated. "We were fast though and these races are usually crashfests. Glad I can take the car home in one piece instead of in pieces." He added.

5:34

Fifth place finisher Hunter Robbins was happy with his top-five, but he thought he could have had more. "I thought we were better than the 29 (Theriault), but we got mixed up there on the track with the 8 (Nemecheck)," Robbins said. Top twenty-three stayed on the lead lap that run. Stout field for that many to hang on after 75 green-flag laps around such an abrasive track.

2:31

We expect everyone to pit under this yellow for four tires.

In regards to the late model major winners this year; shout out to JVD for winning the Redbud and Rowdy which have to be just outside your top 4. Any word on JVD's driving plans next year in addition to helping Hunter Bauze?

In Case You Missed It: Saturday, the Pro Late Models took center stage for the Snowflake 100. Under  cool condtions, practice proved tricky for a number of teams, as 6 cars crashed during their final practice. But once we got to qualifying, Chase Elliott proved to be the fastest yet again, turning in another track record at 16.303.

We then moved on to the Last Chance Qualifier for the Snowball Derby, when Mason Mingus drove away and locked into the field. David Rogers also locked in while Cale Gale and Josh Hamner locked in after tech.

In Pro Truck action, Riley Thornton won the event while in the evening matinee Chase Elliott saved just enough rubber to pass John Hunter Nemechek late for the Snowflake win.

Comment From Matthew Dillner

Pre-race at the Snowball Derby is fun. As it gets closer to the start, it is the Short Track equivalent to the pre-race emotion and excitement I've experienced on the grid of the Indianapolis 500. For a Short Tracker.. it's that big. Great to see it Sold Out. Shows how big Short Track Racing is! Miss you guys in Pensacola!

In Case You Missed It: More practice on Friday for the Snowball Derby and Snowflake cars gave way to pole qualifying for the Snowball Derby. First qualifier Daniel Hemric led for forty cars but then he gave way to Bubba Pollard, who had set a new track record. But right when Pollard was getting ready to celebrate, final qualifier Chase Elliott blasted to a new track record with a 16.133 second time. In local division action, Okie Mason won the Super Stock race and Donnie Hamrac claimed the Modified feature.

In Case You Missed It: Thursday began on track activity for the Snowball Derby weekend with rotating Snowball and Snowflake practice. Bubba Pollard (SLM) and Anderson Bowen (PLM) proved to be the fastest cars on the day. Then in local division action, B.J. Leytham took the Bomber feature and Steve Buttrick claimed the Sportsman feature.

Cale Gale tells us he goes into today's race with a nothing to lose mentality after getting into the race as a result of a disqualification in post-race tech following Saturday's last chance race. "We're in the race and that's all that matters," Gale said. "All we've got to do is be around at the end and I think we have a chance to win."

12:29

John Hunter Nemechek feels his Super Late Model has been better all week than his Pro Late Model. That's a pretty strong statement considering he finished runner-up in last night's Snowflake 100.

Comment From Slinger fan

Watching the snow pile up outside, wishing I was back in Pensacola to see another Derby! Thanks for all the coverage you provide.

Johanna Long, 2010 Derby winner, tells us that the key to coming from 23rd is to be "patient all race long. The fastest car doesn't usually win this race." She is reunited this weekend with her crew chief for that Derby win, Freddie Query, who she describes as being like family to her.

Half of the grid is now gridded on the frontstretch and the rest of the field continues to be pushed out.

In Case You Missed It: Wednesday our coverage of Snowball Derby week kicked off with the parking of rigs and tech inspection. The fine staff of 5 Flags Speedway managed to pick 119 cars in just under 2 hours. Once everyone was in the infield, teams unloaded and headed to Ricky Brooks' Room of Doom. The only doom that befell though was to Cale Gale, who had his initial carburetor confiscated.
