Ricky Brooks pointed to this sign when talking about the confiscated carburetor from the Cale Gale machine. (Speed51.com photo)
6:22
The biggest story out of the tech line today was that of a carburetor for the number 21 Super Late Model for car owner Scott Carlson and driver Cale Gale. Speed51.comconfirmed with head tech inspector Ricky Brooks that the part had been taken and will likely not be returned for use this weekend. Brooks said the carburetor was too big and pointed to the sign that states that illegal parts will be confiscated.

Gale told speed51.com that it was just a part of the tech process for the Snowball Derby and another carburetor was already on its way. Other than this infraction only a handful of minor problems were found in the tech line today. Most weight and minor body issues.

Each day during Snowball Derby week, Speed51.com will award a RE Suspension "Shock of the Day" Award presented by RE Suspension. The award will go to the driver that provided the most shocking moment of each day at Five Flags Speedway.

The winner of each day's "Shock of the Day" award will receive a product certificate from RE Suspension. Visit them in the infield at the track or online at www.resuspension.com.

Wednesday's RE Suspension "Shock of the Day" goes to John Hunter Nemechek. Nemechek's shock came earlier this week when the call from local McDonald's restaurant officials was received by Nemechek in North Carolina. The Nemechek team was in the process of loading up their racecar to come to Pensacola when the call came that McDonald's would be sponsoring the young driver this week. The car was rolled out of the trailer and completely re-decaled. The car was loaded back into the trailer and the team made the trip with a little extra jingle in their pocket.

Spencer Davis has raced so many events this year that even he has lost count. The Dawsonville, Georgia driver just turned 15 last week and spent much of his 14th year on Earth in 2013 racing in 64 events. We wanted to see if even Davis himself knew how many he raced.

Davis said he thought Saturday's and Sunday's events would be his 61st and 62nd events this year. Not too far off, as they will be, if he makes both fields, will be his 65th and 66th.

Usually one of the first entrants for this race and thus able to pick to park along the frontstretch, Fultz finds himself on the Turn 4 side of the quarter mile this year after filing a late entry.
