TECH UPDATE: Tech has cleared for the Snowflake 100. Chase Elliott is your official winner and everyone else is good for the night.

10:35

10:35

Each day during Snowball Derby week, Speed51.com will award a RE Suspension “Shock of the Day” Award presented by RE Suspension. The award will go to the driver that provided the most shocking moment of each day at Five Flags Speedway.

The winner of each day’s “Shock of the Day” award will receive a product certificate from RE Suspension. Visit them in the infield at the track or online atwww.resuspension.com.

Saturday’s Shock of the Day was provided by Korey Ruble. In a stacked field of Pro Late Models in the Allen Turner Snowflake 100, Ruble found himself in a deep hole with having to start 34th. The Alabama racer defied many odds to charge back up through the field to score a strong 10th place finish.

10:33

We’re with you until tech clears tonight, but Trackside Now presented by PFC Brakes will be back bright and early from Pensacola tomorrow at 8 AM CT.

10:31

10:31

Quarter Master is the proud sponsor of Speed51.com’s Clutch Performance of the Day. The award will be given during Snowball Derby week to the driver who came through the most in the clutch, overcoming the odds to have an impressive performance.

Quarter Master is moving driveline technology forward. The winner of the daily award will receive a product certificate from Quarter Master. Visit Quarter Master online atwww.quartermasterusa.com.

Saturday’s Quarter Master Clutch Performance goes to David Rogers. Rogers battled back after losing the transfer spot in Saturday’s Snowball Derby Last Chance Qualifier. He fought hard to make his way up to third at the checkered flag, then up to second after Brady Boswell was disqualified from his second-place finish. Because of his clutch performance, Rogers will be making his 29th career Snowball Derby start on Sunday.

This is the inaugural Pro Truck event during the Snowball Derby weekend. So there’s going to be a very unique bragging right for these drivers for at least another year: The owner of the only Snowball Derby Pro Truck trophy.

6:43

Brady Boswell finished second in the Snowball Derby Last Chance Race but failed post-race tech immediately following. Boswell told 51 that something in the rear linkage broke in the carburetor, leaving it unrestricted and causing the disqualification in post-Last Chance Race qualifying. Chris Wimmer, who finished fourth in the Snowball Derby LCQ, was also disqualified for a carburetor issue but declined comment for explanation afterwards.

The disqualifications put Cale Gale, who originally finished fifth, and Josh Hamner who finished sixth in the 46th Annual Snowball Derby. Hamner and Gale both relayed to 51 that they didn’t care how they got in, but only that they got into Sunday’s 46th Annual Snowball Derby Presented by JEGS.

Last year, Paul Kelley, Brian Campbell, Austin Theriault, and Jeff Fultz transferred into the Snowball Derby from the LCQ. Fultz then went on to finish 4th in the Derby. He will have to come from the LCQ race again this year if he has any dreams of Sunday success.

5:02

On the front row, we have a driver who competed in one Snowball Derby, Mason Mingus. To his outside, a man who has started 28 Snowball Derbys, David Rogers. The next four drivers – Bryant, Boswell, Labbe, and Kraus – have never made the starting field for the Snowball Derby.

11:10

If you have been following along with our coverage today, you will probably notice that there have been more cars spinning and there may be a common denominator. Our pit reporters did check in with a few race teams and the track temps over the the past three days have been in the mid 80’s. Today, the track temperature is in the mid 50’s. It will take them a few extra laps to get heat in the tires. This has many teams chasing a different setup because the track is much faster and they are trying to catch up with the track.
