Tonight’s tech will only involve the top 3 cars.  They will hold the top 5 in case somebody in the top 3 is found to be illegal.  One can assume they will be taking an extensive look at the top 3, as the tech for last nights Snowflake race didn’t clear for several hours.
10:38
Ricky Brooks spoke briefly at this morning’s drivers meeting.  He stressd that in post race tech any car over 58.1% left side weight will be disqualified.  He also told drivers that the winner should not do a burnout and not turn around on the track, after the race is over.

Another interesting rule discussed in the drivers meeting this morning involves the lap count.  If a RED flag should come out durring today’s race, laps will not be counted once the cars begin rolling after the RED.  Instead, the next official lap wont be until they take the GREEN flag.

Great news to hear that Adam Mackey is doing the reporting, hes one of the true announcers I do NOT mind listening to… great voice and well rounded about what hes talking about!!!

10:10
While we’re on the subject of statistics, it should be noted that several former Snowball Derby winners have finished in the runner up spot only a few years before winning the big show. Darrell Waltrip was second in 1972 before winning in ’76, Freddy Fryar was second in ’71 before getting the win in ’79, Jody Ridley was the runner up in 1980 before winning in ’85, Butch Miller was finished second in both ’84 and ’86 before winning in ’87, Rick Crawford was second in ’88 before getting his win in ’89, Rick Bickle Jr was second in ’89 before winnng his 5 Derby’s in ’90, ’91, ’96, ’98, and ’99, Jeff Purvis came home second in both ’91 and ’92 before getting his win in 1995 and Eddie Mercer was second in ’94, ’97 and 2004 before winning in 2005.

Of the drivers entered in this year’s 43rd Annual Snowball Derby Grant Enfinger is the only driver in the past 10 years to finish second that is currently without a Derby win.
