Once again Chase Elliott makes history, as he becomes the youngest winner of the Winchester 400 in it’s 39 year history. Elliott and Johnny VanDoorn were the only two cars on the lead lap at the finish as Elliott got the win and VanDoorn was crowned the 2010 CRA Super Series Champion. TJ Reaid’s wreck was much more spectacular then we imagined. He got up and over the side of Jeff Lane in the first turn. We’ll have much more on all the days happenings later this week on Speed51.com. Thanks for joining us here at the Winchester 400 where Chase Elliott has won the Winchester 400. Goodnight!

5:00
GREEN FLAG LAP 348: Barnes leads the pack to turn one.
4:58
Chuck Barnes Jr. might have a little tire rub after the tangle with Rick Turner. The leaders were going for the top spot and Turner and Donnie Wilson both saw their Winchester 400 dreams go away.
4:57
We are blowing off speedy dry on the frontstretch.
4:54
Rick Turner looks to be done as the crew is getting ready to push him behind the wall.

4:45
Rick Turner will be the new leader over Chuck Barnes Jr. and Donnie Wilson.
4:44
Elliott, VanDoorn, Stremme, Rievley all pit.
4:43
We will have pit stops and all the leaders are coming in.
4:43
YELLOW FLAG LAP 324: Colin Nicolai stops on the track.
4:42
Colin Nicolai is off the pace.
4:41
320 laps down and just 80 to go and Chase Elliott is out front and is looking good.
4:40
Elliott has left Stremme for the lead and is a ways out in front. Rick Turner is still third with Brian Rievley right behind him in fourth.
4:38
Top five: Chase Elliott, David Stremme, Rick Turner, Brian Rievley, Chuck Barnes. Behind that it’s Johnny VanDoorn, Donnie Wilson and we think Colin Nicolai.

300 in the books, 100 laps to go.

Chase Elliott will be the restart leader on lap 298.

4:31
Johnny VanDoorn, Chuck Barnes, Donnie Wilson come to pit road.

4:28

4:28
VanDoorn will be the leader after not pitting. Chase Elliott and David Stremme are second and third.

4:14
Top five: Donnie Wilson, Chase Elliott, Johnny VanDoorn, Josh Hamner, Chuck Barnes Jr.
4:13
Terry Fisher Jr. just lost a lap to the leaders.
4:12
Donnie Wilson’s lead is getting smaller as Chase Elliott is running him down for the top spot.
4:12
Jim Crabtree has come back on the track after being in the last yellow. He is many laps down.
4:11
Chase Elliott rides in second with no pressure from behind or in front of him. The 14 year-old is running a smart race as we close in on lap 250.
4:10
Donnie Wilson looks to have the best car here in the middle part of the race. We have not seen the power out of the 61 of VanDoorn like we did in the first 100 laps. Josh Hamner and Rick Turner have good cars as well and Chuck Barnes is just waiting for the right time to go.
4:08
Brian Campbell is back on the track many laps down.

3:43
How about Dennis Schoenfeld, he makes the move on Stremme and is running second.
3:42
Johnny VanDoorn is up to fourth and now Chase Elliott is fifth.
3:41
Turner pulls out to a good lead here at Winchester. 179 laps in the books.

3:37
Brian Reively has now passed Dick Trickle for laps run here in the 400. That moves him up to fourth on the list.

Jay Neiweck, Colin Nicolai, and Tyler Rorhrig all get the wave around.
3:21
150 laps complete this time by.
3:21
TJ Reaid stayed in a bit longer to work on what looked like a little damage to the nose.

Most of the leaders take right side tires as Chase Elliott came in first because he dropped down first, but the 61 of VanDoorn beat him off pit road for the race lead.
3:16

11:22
Cars have been on the speedway for the morning warmup. We are on the last group now.
11:19
Today’s race is 400 laps and yellow flag laps will count. The 400 lap distance will require tire changes and the teams have the four fresh tires they start on plus eight more new “sticker” tires. They also will have four emergency tires they can use for flats only. They are only allowed to move two tires per yellow. So if they swap front to back that is their allotment for that yellow period. They will have to complete one lap of green before another yellow period will allow another tire change. Of course green flag pit stops will allow as many as you can change.

Johnny VanDoorn will be racing from the pole today, but his spotter Dirk Redder will be racing with a heavy heart as his mother Mary Redder has been diagnosed with cancer. She started treatment last week and the entire 61 team would like to win one for her in the Winchester 400.

We have 38 Super Late Models ready to go in the 39th annual Winchester 400 as last night’s SuperPro winner Matt Hall decided not to make the race today. We will have the rundown in a few seconds. Hall’s win would have given him a borrowed engine from McGunegill Engine Performance to run the race today. Hall will be a spectator and enjoy his win from last night.
