Tech is underway. (Speed51.com photo)
4:39
Southern Super Series champion Daniel Hemric had this to say. "Hey I have never had to save tires like this." He hopes this will prep him for the Snowball Derby in two weeks.
4:35
Kaz Grala was second and he said that was amazing. "I can't say we were going to hard in the middle, but I really think we figured things out. I wish I could do it all again and hold for five more laps before going to the lead. My car was unreal and I can't thank Fat Head racing enough."

4:28
Campbell also told us he was black flagged so that will adjust his finishing position.
4:26
Campbell said he didn't mean for Rhodes to end up in the fence. It was the final lap and he was going for it.
4:24
Rhodes is ok, but just very upset about the situation. This is a tough way to end 2013.

Lee Pulliam reigns king over the South Carolina flag at Myrtle Beach. (Speed51.com photo)
4:13
Your unofifical top-five were Pulliam, Grala, Hemric, Ragan, and Lemons. The rest is a tangled web we are leaving to the officials to sort out for now.
4:12
The rundown is highly unofficial due to the crash on the last lap. We believe Campbell finished around 6th.
4:10
On that last lap, Pulliam had cleanly pased Rhodes from the high side on the restart, pulled down right in front of Rhodes as they took the white, and then Rhodes was sent spinning after contact from behind from Campbell.
4:10
Lee Pulliam becomes the first driver to ever win the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series & Myrtle Beach 400 in the same season.

4:03
Daniel Hemric is now 5th after Harrison Rhodes pitted coming to that last green. We will try to track down what happened to Rhodes but this is the first Late Model Stock start for Hemric, the 2013 Southern Super Series (Super Late Model) champion and the 2012 CRA/JEGS All-Star Tour (Pro Late Model) champion.

Fans at home, if there was a triple crown of LMSC racing, what other race would you put with the Martinsville 300 and the Myrtle Beach 400? Leave us a comment and let us know!

We do have some sad news to report this morning. As we touched on in yesterday's coverage, 18-year-old driver Haley Moody won the Friday Challenger  Division race here, her first ever Limited Late Model victory, and was greeted warmly in victory lane by her family, including her gravely ill father who had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. This morning Moody's father, Jerry, passed away. Our condolonces go out to the entire Moody family on their loss.
10:03
With Mackey's withdrawl from today's race, only Tommy Lemons, Jr. and Robert Tyler are the top-five finishers from the 2012 running of the Myrtle Beach 400 running here today.

Lee Pulliam is trying to do something today that's never been done - win the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national championship and the Myrtle Beach 400 in the same season (a stat that also applies to Late Model Stock Car's biggest race, the Martinsville 300).

Robert Powell (1988 NASCAR WAAS champ, 2001 & 2002 Myrtle Beach 400) champion is the only driver thus far to accomplish both feats.

To recap yesterday's events at Myrtle Beach Speedway: After a lengthy rain delay to start the day, B.J. Mackey turned in the fastest lap in time trials for the Late Model Stock Cars, besting Lee Pulliam. Last Chance races were won by Robert Tyler and Shane Huffman with a $2500 Dash For Cash race being won by Pulliam. Mackey blew an engine in that Dash race and last reports indicated he will NOT be able to race today.
