Track drying continues, looks like this may be our best window of the day thus far.
1:06
For the first time in a while, we see safety trucks taking to the track for drying.
12:56
No real change in the weather as we reach the top of the hour. Consistent drizzle that has kept the Grand Strand area damp.
12:23
While we wait for the weather to pass we are going to take a brief lunch break and will return with updates shortly.

Just as we say that the track drying has been stopped as another band of showers has hit the speedway.
10:47
We will have to wait to hear what the adjustment to the schedule will be. We lost all of the originally scheduled Late Model practice and will have to make up for lost time.
10:38
And now we are pleased to report that track drying has resumed.
10:22
Unfortunately, we must report that the rain is now the heaviest it has been all day as we continue to wait out the weather.

Still waiting out the rain here at Myrtle Beach. The last band according to the radar seems to have just about passed through and the track doesn’t look like it’s gotten terribly wet.

Yesterday was a rough day for 2013 Five Flags Speedway Pro Late Model track champion Garrett Jones. The 88 crew broke an engine in practice and had to go to a backup for today. (Speed51.com photo)
8:42
Pleased to report the sky has brightened significantly and some teams have taken the covers off and are getting back to work.
8:32
Last night at Myrtle Beach Speedway was the 2013 season finale for the Southeast Limited Late Model Series Challenger Division. Haley Moody won the event, her first career win in a LLM event and it was doubly special for her team as Moody’s father, Jerry, was recently diagnosed with cancer.
8:24
Unfortunately, the rain has picked up a bit in its intensity, so the track drying efforts have stopped and we will now wait this band of rain out. Looking at the radar, we definitely have a bit of moisture to get through in the next half hour, but luckily after that it is fairly clear to the west.

Several teams asked about the qualifying procedures as a certain amount of cars will be lock in today before time trials start. At this point we can’t tell you for sure until track officials know who is locked into the field how many will be taken in time trials. We know the heats will set positions 21st to 36th.
8:03
A light mist has come over the track and we have a slight delay in getting practice going.

7:51
Mini Stocks have taken to the track.

We do see the track safety vehicles making laps on the track now. It was a misty night here on the Grand Strand, but the track didn’t get too terribly wet. Just trying to make sure all the grooves are good to go for the Mini Stocks here in five minutes.
