We are currently on lap 77.  It’s difficult to keep track without a scoreboard, even a couple of the spotters just messaged us wanting to know what lap the race was on.
11:17
The first three caution laps counted in each caution until the lap 75 mark.  The final 25 laps must be run under caution.
11:17
Here’s the deal folks, we are trying to keep track of laps the best we can.  The scoreboard is out and we are using sign language in the booth with the scorers to find out what lap we are on.  We appreciate the NSS officials for their help.
11:15
100 laps is the distance tonight.  Our apologies.

This is the first time that Travis Cope has competed in  a race this year.  It is a brand new Port City Chassis racecar.  In fact, other than testing the past week here at NSS it had never been on the racetrack before.  The 23 year-old is currently 6th.
10:34
Matt Tift is a 15 year-old racer under the direction of former NSS Late Model winner BJ McCloud.

The frontstretch is a mess.

It might be an interesting start of the Clyde Hart Memorial between pole-sitter Wayne Anderson and Jeff Scofield, who starts on the outside of the front row.  That pair has had a few run-ins over the years.  “That’s all in the past,” said Scofield during the power outage.

Why isnt S. Nasse racing? Isnt this his home track?

9:37
We caught up with Tim Russell while we were in the pits.  He said, “that’s all I had (in qualifying).”  Russell timed second, but will start fifth in the feature.  He is, however, racing a Limited Late Model at NSS.  With his version of a LLM, he will carry 100 less pounds as compared to Wayne Anderson.  “After about lap 50, I think it’ll help me,” Tim said.

We apologize for the wrong explanation of the FUPLMS tonight.  We have been corrected.  This is the Florida United Promoters Late Model Series.  This series combines Super Late Models, Pro Late Models and Limited Late Models with a series of engine governors and weight rules.
9:29
The lights have gone off here at New Smyrna Speedway.  The track is now in complete darkness.  It appears as though an transformer has blown.  NSS officials say they are already changing over to another power source.  They estimate that it will take 15 minutes for the lights to come back on.

David Rogers is not here.  We do not believe he races with the FUPLMS, but we figured he would be here at his hometrack tonight.  We will investigate and get back to you.

Comment From ricky

no david rodgers??

8:09
Yes it is the same Travis Swaim.  We are told that Mike Skinner was scheduled to race that car, but he is not here.  We did not confirm that with Mike, however.
8:08
Comment From Derek

Is the Travis Swaim in the field the same Travis Swaim who races LMSCs in North Carolina?

8:08
The #127 of Kyle Maynard was on the track getting up to speed when the caution was thrown due to the timing equipment issue.

Tim Russell and Patrick Staropoli are currently the fastest cars in qualifying.

Tonight’s events are in the memory of Clyde Hart, who built the half-mile, high-banked New Smyrna Speedway in 1964.  It was Clyde’s dream to operate a short track just to the south of Daytona Int’l Speedway.  Clyde owned and operated the track until he died in 1998.  His son, Robert, took over the reigns since then and continues to operate the track to this day.

Strictly Stocks are on the card tonight.

Earl Baker’s Modified went up in smoke in turn one a few minutes ago.  He appears to have an engine problem.

We know we have the date wrong for this particular event at the top of the Trackside Now screen.  We apologize for the inconvienance.

Currently, it is 75 degrees at New Smyrna Speedway.  There are clouds in the area, but there are breaks of sunshine with blue skies overhead.  There is a 40 percent chance of rain tonight, but both New Smyrna and NASCAR officials at the big track to the north (Daytona Int’l Speedway) believe all the rain is now out of the area.
7:08
The racing program has been pushed back about 30 minutes due to earlier rain in the area.
