Qualifying is now underway for the ASA Midwest Tour.
1:41
For the Joe Shear Classic, they will take a break after 64 laps for a final 36-lap shootout in honor of the late Joe Shear. Shear has multiple feature wins at Madison International Speedway. In 1982, Shear had seven weekly feature wins in a row. Sadly, he passed away from cancer in 1998.
1:39
One reason for the fast times in practice could be related to the off-season decision that the ASAMT made to go from the Hoosier F-40 and F-50 tires to a softer F-25 and F-48 tires. Chris Wimmer said last week that these tires do have more grip and does expect them to fall off during the 100-lap event.
1:38
ASA Midwest Tour qualifying is about to start. The track record could be in jeopardy. Andrew Morrissey set a fast time of 17.413 back in April, 2004. That record was set with a 4-bbl carb. The ASA Midwest Tour runs on 2-bbl carbs.
