Comment From Gulf coast florida Racer

Thanks Speed51 for such great coverage always!!! It’s almost like being there…

11:20
I hate to say “at fault”. Let’s just say the accident started when the #12 of Emmel lost it in Turn One (didn’t see any contact offhand but can’t rule it out). The rest of the cars were further back in the pack and had nowhere to go.
11:19
Comment From Gulf coast florida Racer

Who was at fault in that accident?

11:18
Posted a picture of Jacob at 10:53. Nose torn to pieces.

11:17
Pretty bad. It may be repairable, but it won’t be easy for sure.
11:17
Comment From brad

how bad is gresels car 81

11:14
Now cleaning up the oil in Turn One. Emmel’s car will have to be pancake towed off of the racing surface.
11:07
All of the cars have cleared the scene except for the Emmel machine, its left side against the Turn One wall.

Super Late Models have cleared tech.

11:02
11:02
Looks like another car might have been #07 of Tom Fares, they are working on the body on pit road under this red.
10:58
#87 of Mazzagatti, the #10 of Duquette also involved. RED.
10:56
Emmel was one of the cars. Still trying to identify the others.
10:56
CAUTION ON THE RESTART – Five cars junked against the Turn One wall.
10:55
One to go to green. Brannon will once again choose the inside line for the restart. Watson and Stroup will be in row two, followed by Russell,  Brandon Johnson, Anthony Sergi, Riley Emmel, Cole Powell and Spencer Davis
10:54
Yes, though it sounds like the engine is missing as it drives by under caution.
10:54
Comment From Guest

Did the 07 start the race then?

10:54
Pretty much it’s all engine. Supers run some highly customized engine packages while Pros are limited usually to crates or two-barrels.
10:54
Comment From csg

can you explain the difference between a super late model and these pro late models?

10:53
Severe damage to Jacobs’ red #4 and Andrew Gressel’s white 81
10:52
LAP 3 – CRASH – Gressel crashes down the backstretch. Mike Mazzagatti hits the inside backstretch wall barely. Marc Jacobs slams the outside backstretch wall with damage. Jason Parker also caught up with minimal damage.
10:51
LAP 3 – For the fifth or sixth time this week, Brandon Hermiller booted out of line and has to make an incredible save.
10:50
LAP 2 – Clean in the top-five. Brannon leads Coughlin, Watson, Stroup, and Russell.
10:50
START – Brannon gets going after Cody Coughlin struggles with the initial start.

Latulppe’s team has just reported that they are taking the engine out and going to the Gosselin Racing shop to try to get a new front clip. If they can not procure a front clip, their Speedweeks are unfortunately over.
10:25
The oldest driver in the top-five right now is 27-year-old Ryan Moore. That said, 56-year-old David Rogers lurks in sixth.

Comment From Guest

what about latulippe?

10:01
He didn’t actually crash and drove away from the scene and the scoring reverts to the last completed lap.
10:01
Comment From Guest

Why does moore get his spot back?

10:01
Been told the fluid issue came from Andrew Morrissey’s machine.
9:59
Ryan Moore will get his spot back (4th).
9:59
About half of your top-ten were involved in that melee in Turn Four.
9:59
Gus Dean also involved and his car is the only that didn’t drive away. Sergi hits pit road with damage.
9:58
LAP 38 – CAUTION – Two crashes. Fullone against the Turn One wall. Morrissey, Good, Latulippe, and Moore all crash in four. Been told this was all due to oil on the track.
9:57
LAP 37 – Kasten gets shuffled out of the groove racing for 8th and will lose all that ground.
9:57
LAP 34 – Moore now pressuring Elliott heavily as Nasse starts to get away from that duo.
9:56
LAP 33 – Gus Dean takes it three-wide of a lap car to race Bobby Good for eighth.
9:56
LAP 32 – Moore in fourth, who had lost ground to Nasse and Elliott, closing back in on that duo. Benjamin is G-O-N-E
9:55
LAP 31 – Benjamin ‘s only compeetition right now is the lapped cars of Foran and Weaver blocking the track in front of him.
9:55
LAP 30 – Kasten  by Latulippe for tenth.
9:54
LAP 28 – Elliott starting to size up Nasse, thinking about diving low coming off the corners.
9:54
LAP 26 – Kasten back up to 11th after passing Scofield.
9:53
LAP 25 – HALFWAY – Kyle Benjamin leads Stephen Nasse by a second. Nasse closely followed by Elliott, Ryan Moore, Kyle Larson. David Rogers sixth, Andrew Morrissey, Bobby Good, Gus Dean, and Martin Latulippe.
9:53
LAP 23 – Rogers was not able to take fifth from Larson. Bobby Good has moved into the top-ten (9th). Martin Latulippe also nearly cracking the top-ten after he did not make a qualifying attempt.
9:52
LAP 20 – Elliott now all over Nasse for second.
9:52
LAP 19  David Rogers on the inside of Larson for fifth.
9:51
LAP 18 – Nasse clears Moore into Turn One and takes second. Elliott takes third from Moore.
9:51
RESTART  – Benjamin gets away on the restart, allowing Nasse to pull alongside of Moore for second.
9:51
One to go to green. Benjamin will choose the outside line for the restart, the line he used to take the lead on the redeux.

Kasten and Kennedy both pit under this caution. Minimal damage to both but much lost track position.
9:49
LAP 17 – RUNNING ORDER under CAUTION:

1 Kyle Benjamin
2 Ryan Moore

6 David Rogers

8 Gus Dean
9 Jeff Scofield
10 Anthony Sergi

11 Bobby Good
12 Martin Latulippe
13 Bill Catania
14 Brian Levant (who did get the blue coloured car to fire)
15 Dakotah Stephens.

9:48
LAP 17 – CAUTION – Kennedy and Kasten spin in Turn One racing for fourth. Kasten had dove to the inside and that’s when contact was made.
9:47
LAP 15 – Top-ten nose to tail. No real battles but no one getting away either. David Green whitewalled the wall in the back of the pack.
9:46
LAP 12 – Kyle Benjamin just ran a 18.155 second lap. David Rogers has had the fastest car in the last few laps, however, he’s up to 8th.
9:46
LAP 11 – Gus Dean, after starting near the top-five, has slipped to 10th. Andrew Morrissey, who barely avoided the start crash, is up to ninth.
9:45
Lap 10: Top 10: Benjamin, Moore, Elliott, Kennedy, Kasten, Nasse, Larson, Rogers, Morrissey and Dean.
9:45

9:44
LAP 7 – Nasse now working on Kasten for fifth.

9:43
LAP 4 – Kasten alongside Kennedy for fourth, door-to-door at the line.

9:42
Yes, Nemechek’s car had to be towed.

is the 8 out ?

9:42
Comes and goes depending on how many divisions are running that night, new arrivals, and towed-away wrecks. We had probably ~130 cars here today (34 or so SLM, 30 or so PLM, 12 Florida Modified, 20 Tour & SKs, and 18 Pro Trucks)

For those of you not aware of who Patrick Emerling is, the Orchard Park, NY native was the 2011 Whelen Modified Tour Rookie of the Year. HIs best finish was a 5th at the concrete canyons of Bristol Motor Speedway. He also won a NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour pole at Hickory.

I’d love to see Hemric get #2 but seeing Emerling get his first win would be great

8:59
Love him or hate him, TC gets fan’s attentions like no other modified driver.
8:59
Even hundreds of miles away, TC is still polarizing fans here today. Plenty say the team was right to refuse, plenty others saying it was about time someone protested the team’s engine.

Comment From North Mod Fan

Why did Hillbilly switch Hemrics ride, he isnt fast in the black car so why take his shot at winning away?

LAP 21 – Hite, who had pulled in on Lap 10, comes back out.
7:38
LAP 20 – Sarppicone’s lead hits 1.246 seconds as he looks to lap 10th place machine Jarrett Korpi. Foster Mackey has pulled it in and will finish 11th tonight.
7:38
LAP 18 – Jerry Symons continues to hold off Tank Tucker. Even though he is not catching Sarppicone, Symons looks in good shape for his fifth title as his chief competition, Tim Moore, runs back in 6th.
7:36
LAP 15 – Tucker tries making the move on the inside of Symons out of turn four. No dice. Tries the outside show through one and two, but no dice there either.
7:36
LAP 14 – Tucker now all over the back of Symons for second.
7:35
LAP 12 – Tim Moore sliding up the hill as he looks for a good line to get around MacDonald for fifth.
7:35
LAP 10 – Sarpiccone, Jr. more than holding his own right now as the #54 of David Hite slows down the backstretch and will hit pit road.
7:34
LAP 8 – Tucker clear for third. Sarppicone leads Symons by nearly a full second and then another few tenths back to Tucker.
7:34
LAP 7 – Symons completes the pass of Dempsey for second and Tank Tucker looks to follow through for third.
7:33
LAP 6 – Symons ducks under teammate Dempsey at the line for second place.
7:33
LAP 4 – Sarppicone lead Dempsey by a carlength or two as Symons and Tank Tucker rapidly reel them in.
7:32
LAP 2 – Symons gets around the free-falling MacDoanld for third.
7:32
START – John Sarppicone will lead lap one with Dwayne Dempsey getting second. Mav MacDonald did not get a good start and backs up with Symons.
7:31

He did not make a qualifying attempt due to a mechanical failure. But he has a second car and engine on the grounds so if he can not get the first engine to fire, it’s entirely possible he’d get in the second.

We at Speed51.com get a ton of emails, tweets and Facebook messages asking for some publicity for drivers, series and tracks. Much of the news-worthy stuff ends up on one of our outlets. Sometimes, we do take their advice and make them a feature story or do something cool to promote what they have going on.

Now, we want to step up our coverage and publicity for drivers throughout North America to continue bringing fans the most comprehensive short track racing coverage on the web.

To do that, we need your help for two new areas of Speed51.com. Sign up for our Speed51.comDriver Database and Social Media directory. It’ll help you get some story ideas through us at 51 and some new fans when we publish the social media page.
