Whether it was on dirt or on pavement, Short Track Racing was in full force this past weekend throughout North America.  From the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models battling for $8,000 at I-44 Speedway (MO) to the Dirt Late Models racing for $50,000 at Atomic Speedway (OH), the action on the short tracks was intense.

1. Red Eyes to Green Jackets – Nemechek Cashes In at Masters

John Hunter Nemechek overcame many obstacles this weekend en route to collecting his second green jacket at Saturday night’s JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Racing Oil “Masters of the Pros 144” at Lebanon I-44 Speedway.  The biggest obstacle was actually just getting to the track.

2. Black Sunshine Reigns on Buckeye Nationals

Scott Bloomquist took the lead on lap 48 from Brandon Sheppard and then held off the field in a three-lap dash to the finish to win in the Buckeye Nationals Saturday Night at Atomic Speedway.   Bloomquist earned $50,000 for his fourth Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of the season.


3. Silk Snaps Long Winless Drought With Speedbowl Win

It had been nearly four years and 42 races since Ron Silk last visited victory lane following a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race. He put an end to that streak Saturday night by winning the New England Cycle Center 161 at New London-Waterford Speedbowl. The win, the 10th of Silk’s career, was his first since August 2012 at Bristol Motor Speedway.


4. Showstopper Can’t Be Stopped at Bowman Gray

Chris “Showstopper” Fleming hadn’t visited Victory Lane at Bowman Gray Stadium for a year and a half leading into Saturday night, but he left little doubt that he deserved to be back as he led wire-to-wire in winning the Crazy Kevin Powell Motorsports Modified 100 at the famed bullring.

5. VIDEO: NASCAR Star’s Son Wins First LMSC Race at Orange County

Layne Riggs, the son of former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Driver Scott Riggs, won his first career Late Model Stock Car feature Saturday at Orange County Speedway (NC). Full race highlights can be seen on the Speed51 Network.


6. Another Check in the Win Tally for “Redhot” Majeski

It may have been cold and flurries may have been falling from the sky, but that didn’t stop Ty Majeski from continuing his hot streak on Saturday night. Majeski won his second consecutive ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment event in 2016, and his second consecutive Cabin Fever 100 at State Park Speedway.

7. Speed Central: Eddie Mac Pours It on Late at Airborne

8. Hall Heats Up on Damp, Cold Day at Speedway 95

Garrett Hall of Scarborough charged into contention from his sixth row starting position, battling his way to victory lane Sunday in a rain-plagued 150-lap Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model race that went the scheduled distance at Speedway 95 in Hermon.

9. Emerling All Smiles After RoC Victory at Steel Palace

The Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series fueled by Sunoco made a stop at the legendary Oswego (N.Y.) Speedway this past Saturday night for the Richie Evans Memorial 61 and when the checkered flag waved Orchard Park, N.Y.’s, Patrick Emerling stood tall in victory lane.
