The Short Track racing season is officially in full swing as there was action taking place coast-to-coast this weekend. From the Super DIRTcar Series opening their season to Outlaws roaring around Kalamazoo, Speed51 had it all covered.

Race number three for the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco came down to a battle of the Caseys on Friday night at Five Flags Speedway. Defending Southern Super Series champion Casey Smith and defending Blizzard Series champion Casey Roderick duked it out throughout the 125-lap race, before Roderick eventually prevailed.

Ty Majeski had a memorable week. Last Sunday, he set a new track record and got the broom out for the season opener at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Then, mid-week, he was announced as the number one draft pick in the 2016 Speed51.com Short Track Draft presented by PFC Brakes.

DJ Shaw took the lead from Joey Doiron with three laps to go to take the win at Maine’s Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. It was just one lap – but Tim Brown of Tobaccoville hopes it will set the stage for his 2016 season at Bowman Gray Stadium.
In the Friday night qualifying session for Saturday’s Hayes Jewelers 200 for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series, Brown turned a lap in 12.965 seconds. The blistering time was the fastest ever at the Stadium, breaking the previous record set by Brown in 2008.
5. Decker Triumphs in Thriller on the High Banks of Fulton
The 2016 Super DIRTcar Series season officially kicked off with a thriller on the high banks of New York’s Fulton Speedway. Three cars fought for the lead and the win with less than 10 laps to go and it was Billy Decker who came out on top as the winner of the High Banks Hold-up 100.

Tyler Roahrig is one of the more dominant drivers in Outlaw Late Model competition, and he showed that once again at Michigan’s Kalamazoo Speedway on Friday night. Ryan Cansdale dominated the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series 100 presented by Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse at The Irwindale Event Center (CA) Saturday night. Cansdale took the lead from Parker Stephens on lap 3, and was never headed, despite a lap 98 caution that put two time series champion, Derek Thorn, on his back bumper. He took home $5,000 for the victory, his second career SPEARS Southwest Tour Series win in only 11 career starts. Justin South and Casey Roderick split the Pro Late Model twin-50’s at Alabama’s Montgomery Motor Speedway on Saturday night as part of the Show Me the Money Series. Highlights of the race are coming soon to the Speed51 Network.
It was another wild night at Auburndale Speedway, in Winter Haven, Florida, as the stars of the Sunoco Challenge Series battled it out for 100 laps around the three-eighths mile bullring. At the end of the night, it came down to two drivers – Jeff Scofield and Joe Boyd – fighting for the win in a fierce battle. Scofield would end up coming out on top for his first series win of 2016. It took him long enough, but Chris Pasteryak finally gets a win at the “Mad Dog,” Monadnock Speedway in New Hampshire. Pasteryak took the lead from Woody Pitkat at the halfway mark and fended off all other challengers to take the win.
