There will be an abundance of short track races being held in the state of Florida over the next two weeks. No matter which surface you enjoy more — pavement or dirt — there will be plenty of racing to enjoy during Florida Speedweeks. There will also be many different race cars to watch including Late Models, Modifieds, Sprint Cars and Stock Cars.
If you’re a racing fan in the Sunshine State, which events should you attend? We’ve narrowed down the list to 10 races that we think are must-attend events leading into the Great American Race, the Daytona 500, on February 18.

1. Richie Evans Memorial 100 at New Smyrna Speedway – February 16
It’s the biggest Tour-type Modified race held during Florida Speedweeks. The Richie Evans Memorial, honoring the greatest driver to ever wheel a Modified, draws some of the best in Tour-type Modified racing each year. Ryan Preece, Jimmy Blewett, Matt Hirschman and a host of others will duke it out for bragging rights before the season starts in the Northeast.
Get the best of both worlds during the DIRTcar Nationals finale featuring the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds and the World of Outlaws Dirt Late Models. Both series will hand out “big gators” to the overall DIRTcar Nationals champions.
3. ARCA Racing Series at Daytona International Speedway – February 10
It’s one of the most exciting ARCA races of the season. With drivers racing side-by-side at high speeds, there’s always plenty of excitement on the track. One year ago, Austin Theriault won the race before a dominant season that saw him capture the ARCA championship. Who will it be this year?
4. Lucas Oil Late Model Winternationals Finale at East Bay Raceway Park – February 10
This is the sixth and final night of racing for the always-entertaining Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at East Bay Raceway Park. Take your seat and watch as Dirt Late Model racing’s best battle it out on the 1/3-mile dirt oval.
5. John Blewett III Memorial at New Smyrna Speedway – February 14
It’s Valentine’s Day at New Smyrna Speedway, but will love be in the air when the Tour-type Modifieds hit the race track? On their third night of racing, the ground pounders will battle for 76 laps in honor of the late John Blewett III.
6. All Star Sprints at Volusia Speedway Park – February 8
Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions visits Volusia on February 8 for their second and final night of racing at the track. All Star regulars like Sheldon Haudenschild and Chad Kemenah will be looking to defend their turf against any possible invaders.
7. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Bubba Raceway Park – February 11
This one-off event is always one of the most entertaining races of Florida Speedweeks. One year ago, it was Brandon Sheppard bringing the crowd to their feet with a last-lap pass of Scott Bloomquist. Just make sure you show up early, as the grandstands are always packed for this exciting race at the 3/8-mile, D-shaped dirt oval.
8. World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Finale at Volusia Speedway Park – February 11
The Greatest Show on Dirt will visit Volusia Speedway Park three nights during Florida Speedweeks, culminating on Sunday, February 11. Donny Schatz, David Gravel and the rest of the Outlaws will battle it out for the “Big Gator” trophy.
9. Kickoff to Speedweeks at Bronson Speedway – February 10
This relatively new event is picking up steam each year with this year’s race being the third running. A number of drivers planning to race at New Smyrna are arriving early to compete in the 50-lap Tour-Type Modified race at Bronson.
10. NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Season Opener at New Smyrna – February 11
Many of NASCAR’s future stars will be in competition as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season beings at New Smyrna Speedway. Harrison Burton, Todd Gilliland and Brandon McReynolds are just a few of the drivers on the entry list.
