Performing in the clutch separates the best drivers from the pack. When the laps are counting down and the lights are shining brightest, the top racers thrive under pressure. Each month during the 2020 season, Tilton Engineering will honor a “Clutch Performer of the Month” from the world of short track racing.
The winner of the Tilton Engineering Clutch Performer of the Month Award for the month of March is…
Rowdy Energy Super Select Series Powered by Speed51
For the first time, a monthly award will be given out by Speed51 to a sim racer. Devon Morgan’s late-race heroics in the eRattler 250 at the virtual Lanier Raceplex during a month of limited real-life racing earned him that honor.
The real-life Limited Late Model and dirt Street Stock driver from South Carolina led the most laps during the race, but found himself chasing Max Cookson going into the final lap. In shades of the 2018 Rattler, a last-lap pass decided the winner of the event.
Morgan sailed his No. 112 into turn three and sent Cookson up the track in the final corners, also allowing Parker Retzlaff to sneak inside coming out of turn four. The two made contact and Morgan slid across the start/finish line sideways, winning the eRattler 250 by a mere .002 seconds.
For coming through in the clutch with a photo-finish win in the first race of the Rowdy Energy Super Select Series powered by Speed51, Devon Morgan has been named the Tilton Clutch Performer of the Month for March. Nocella will receive a $250 product certificate from Tilton Engineering for his clutch performances.
