“Thugg Nasty” Riding Momentum Into Volunteer Speedway

Logan Roberson ended 2018 on a high note, with big victories in events such as the Crate Nationals at Volunteer Speedway (TN) and the FASTRAK World Championship at Virginia Motor Speedway (VA) to conclude a 14-win season.

Roberson is off to another hot start in 2019, with five feature wins to his credit already.  “Thugg Nasty” hopes to keep that momentum rolling Saturday when the FASTRAK Racing Series visits Volunteer Speedway.

Confidence is riding high going into the event in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, a track where Roberson has enjoyed plenty of success in recent years.

“Our confidence is pretty high right now,” Roberson told Speed51.  “We’ve had a pretty good start to the season.  We’ve won five so far.  If I’m not mistaken, we’ve won four of the last five at Bulls Gap.  We’re definitely looking forward to it.”

Roberson might be making it look easy on the race track of late, but the strong results are the byproduct of hard work and a relentless desire to improve.

“It comes with a lot of hard work, too,” explained Roberson. “Me and my dad have busted our tails to get everything ready and where we wanted it to be.  It’s a never-ending process, trying to stay on top of these boys and stay ahead.

“Everybody thinks I’m lying, but we have a really small budget,” Roberson added.  “We’re fortunate enough to get by with what we get by with.  We’ve had some good help and sponsorship.  We have a small budget, but if you put in the work, you can stand out and show yourself, how you can drive, if everything’s lined up right.  It’ll definitely come to you, and I feel like it’s come to me little bit by little bit.”

With that hard work, Roberson believes he has a great shot to win this weekend at Volunteer.

“I think we can definitely do it,” he said.  “We’ve just got to have some luck on our side.  We’ve won a $3,000-to-win this year, so I’d love to add another one.  Me and my dad say there’s no reason we couldn’t. It’s a lot of factors that go into it.

“There will be some tough guys there.  When you race with them, it makes you a better racer.”

Roberson contributes some of his success at the high-banked 4/10-mile oval to his ability to race on slick surfaces.

“I like when it slows down and gets real slick,” explained Roberson.  “I guess that’s my forte.  I like when the places we go get really slick and racy.  That’s when I think I stand out the most, not so much the big, wet tracks. I like when they get slow and slick and you have to really drive the car.”

Fans unable to make it to Volunteer Speedway Saturday for the FASTRAK Racing Series event can still watch Roberson in action.  Speed51, the official video home of the FASTRAK Racing Series, will provide a live stream of the event to Premium Members of the Speed51 Network.  Click here to sign up today.
