Logan Roberson’s FASTRAK Racing Series wins have come in marquee races, with two of his three career wins coming in the FASTRAK World Championship and the FASTRAK World Challenge.  “Thugg Nasty” added another major FASTRAK win Saturday night at Richmond Raceway (KY), leading every lap and winning the Damn Yankees 50.

While he went unchallenged for the majority of the 50-lap event, the same can’t be said for the final laps.  Heavy lapped traffic at the narrow 3/8-mile dirt track allowed defending race winner Todd Coffman to close in.  While in victory lane, Roberson saw his trip to victory lane as a blessing after seeing Coffman’s No. 35 grow bigger in his rearview mirror late.

“I had to work for that one, that wasn’t given to me.  We got to a couple laps to go and then all the sudden he’s on me.  Them lapped cars, oh my God.  They didn’t know where they were going and I was stuck in a pickle,” Roberson told Speed51.  “I heard him on the outside knocking the wall down.  My dad was telling me to take up the whole racetrack and hopefully it would pay off for us.  We were blessed that it held off and we got lucky.”

With a field full of talented drivers, Coffman was the last one Roberson wanted to see making a late-race charge to the front.  The multi-time Crate Late Model champion in the area ultimately ran out of laps and Roberson was able to pick off his second win in as many nights.

“Todd’s good here, he races here a lot.  I knew that if there was one guy that could beat me here, he would be the one because he races here and he could go everywhere I didn’t.  We were lucky enough we held off.”

If it were the Damn Yankees 55, we may be talking about Todd Coffman going back-to-back in the event after a charge through the field.  He started 10th and used the outside line in a way nobody else could.  He ended up settling for second, a bright spot in a season that has seen its share of misfortune.

“I don’t know about one more but I would’ve liked to have seen five more, we were coming.  We get around this place pretty good,” Coffman said.  “It’s rough going through the traffic but we had a good hot rod.  I kept digging and digging and I got to second there and looked up to the board and saw 47.  I didn’t have enough but we were coming, we had a good car.”

Matt Long inherited the FASTRAK Racing Series points lead with a third-place run.  Derek Fisher and Trevor Sise rounded out the top-five.
