Thomas Survives For #TeamDenah Late Model Win

LAKE VIEW, SC (June 26) – Wake Forest, NC’s Christian Thomas took the #TeamDenah Late Model win after a fierce battle with Shaun Harrell Saturday night at the Pop Hahn “Man On The Moon” race at Lake View Motor Speedway.  Thomas pocketed $3,000 for the victory in the event to benefit Denah Long, wife of longtime race promoter Jim Long, in her long battle with cancer.

Harrell started on the pole after posting the fastest lap in qualifying, but was overtaken at the start of the race by 3-time Lake View winner in 2021, Dustin Mitchell.  However, Mitchell’s time up front was short after a mechanical problem sidelined him on lap 3.  Harrell took his turn up front as he and Thomas diced and darted their way through slower traffic.  With 20 laps to go, Thomas was making a run on Harrell, when Harrell got hung up behind lapped traffic.  The two made contact on the front straightaway resulting in Harrell slamming the inside guardrail.  With Harrell out of the race, Thomas cruised to his first win of 2021 at Lake View over Matthew Nance, Michael Rouse, Banjo Duke, and Willie Milliken, who started 13th.  Rounding out the 10 were Dustin Perritt, Timmy Blackwell, Daniel Tucker, Corey Almond, and Brian Strickland.

The Mid-East Modified Tour brought a strong field of 32-cars to Lake View for Twin 15 lappers that would be split by Daulton Wilson and Stephen Pedulla.  Wilson led flag-to-flag to win a caution-free race #1 over Trey Stamper, Pedulla, Case Daniels, and Jasper Hooker.  The top 8 finishers were inverted for race #2, putting Jonathan Ward and Dean Noseworthy on the front row for the main event.  Noseworthy captured the lead on lap 1 before the caution waved for an incident between Herb Sizemore, Justin Gerald, and Harley Stanley in turn three.  On the restart, Pedulla would get the advantage, followed closely in second by Wilson. But, with four laps to go, the lapped machine of Tyler Kussman spun in turn two right in front of the leaders and collected Wilson.  With Wilson sidelined, Pedulla cruised to the victory over Ward, Ethan Wilson, Daniels, and Donovan Jackson.

The Tribodyn Lubricants Carolina Sprint Tour made their second visit of the season to Lake View with points leader Jeff Oliver taking home the win.  Rounding out the top five were Daniel Oliver, Nate Emig, Carson Kvapil, and Marc Dailey.

Modified 4-Cylinders returned to the speedway for the first time in nearly three years as Austin Brown scored the MMSA Mini Stock win in memory of Jamie Mattison.  Brown made an aggressive pass for the lead on the outside of Earl Farmer in three and led the rest of the way for the win.  Following Brown and Farmer at the finish were Greg Brew, DJ Carraway, and Miles Mintz.

The Bell & Bell Vintage Modifieds were also in action with Jeremy Cumbee winning in Pro Mod, Brian Gurererri in Modified, Bladen Core in Sportsman, Kory Nikolov in 6-Cylinder, and WC Bell in Seniors.

The next event at Lake View Motor Speedway will be the 4th Annual Sandra Miller Memorial featuring double-points for the Late Models, Stock V-8, and SCDRA Sport Compacts, plus $850 to win for the Carolina Outlaw Super Streets, and feature racing for the Legends and Bell & Bell Vintage Modifieds.  For more information, please “Like” Lake View Motor Speedway on Facebook, follow @LakeViewDirt on Twitter or by visiting
