The richest Outlaw Kart race in North America, the QRC Speed51 Open presented by HMS Motorsport at Millbridge Speedway (NC), is just a little more than one week away. In case you forgot what makes this event so big, we wanted to give our fans a bit of a refresher.
The event pays $5,151 to the winner of the Open division feature on May 23rd. The event usually attracts big names such as Kyle Larson, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Nick Hoffman. Hoffman is the defending winner of the event, while Larson won just two years ago.
The “Back Row Bonus” will work like this:
The winner of the pole shuffle will be given the opportunity to start shotgun on the field. If the driver accepts that challenge, they will start from the rear and be awarded the $25,000 if they are able to make their way from last to first and win the Speed51 Open. If that driver elects not to accept the challenge, the opportunity will be given to the next driver (second-place finisher in the pole shuffle, third-place finisher, etc.) in line until one driver accepts the challenge. If need be, the challenge will be offered all the way to the last qualifier in order to give one driver a chance at the big pay day.
That means that one driver has the chance to win more than $30,000 at the QRC Speed51 Open presented by HMS Motorsport.
The headlining Open division isn’t the only division going for big money this year. The new Outlaw division will be racing for $1,000 thanks to TT Bone Extreme Karting. The Box Stocks will also be racing for $1,000 thanks to Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and RPM Trailer Sales. The Intermediate division winner will be taking home $500 and a free set of Hoosier tires.
In addition to the big money on the line, these drivers and teams will be racing in front of fans all over the world.
Speed51.com will be streaming all of the action live from Millbridge Speedway on Tuesday, May 22ndand Wednesday, May 23rd. Race fans can order their live pay-per-view ticket by clicking here.
And, for the first time ever, the QRC Speed51 Open presented by HMS Motorsport will be broadcast nationwide on network television thanks to MAVTV.
Speed51 TV, the live broadcasting arm of Speed51.com, will produce the event to be broadcasted at a later date on MAVTV. The MAVTV production will be different from the live stream that will air on Speed51.com.
More details regarding the MAVTV broadcast of the Speed51 Open presented by HMS Motorsport from Millbridge Speedway will be made available soon.
