With the month of November nearing its halfway point, Super and Pro Late Model race teams are ramping up their preparations for the 53rd Annual Snowball Derby, coming up December 2-6 at Five Flags Speedway. Those hoping to gain extra laps on track in Pensacola before Derby week will have two ways to do just that before the first official practice session on Thursday, December 3.
While the Snowball Derby Preview on Saturday, November 21, is the best and most reasonable opportunity for teams to take to the track for an entire day, while having the chance to earn a little cash with a fast lap, there are separate test days available throughout the rest of November.
Test days are available from now through Monday, November 30, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day on November 26.
Track testing will run for $250 per driver Monday through Saturday, with gates open at 8:30 a.m. and the test session beginning at 9 a.m. Sundays are $200 per driver, with gates opening at 10:30 a.m. and the test session beginning at noon. Cars will be allowed on track from the beginning of the session until dark. There is a maximum of 10 drivers permitted each day.
Tires and fuel will be available with advanced notice, as is transponder timing for $50 per day and up to three cars per day.
Only certain dates are currently available for private testing. Teams interested in booking one of those dates are encouraged to contact the Five Flags Speedway office by phone at 850-944-8400.
