With racers from across the short track scene and fans of fender-banging asphalt Late Model action eagerly anticipating SpeedFest 2015 this weekend at Watermelon Capital Speedway, event promoters remain focused on an action-packed event.
Sunday’s race day forecast for Sunday, January 25 at the Cordele, Georgia facility promises temperatures in the 60’s with sunny conditions. Therefore WCS promoter Wayne Lyle remains steadfast that all racing action will go on as planned this weekend considering current unsettled forecasts for Friday’s optional practice day and Saturday’s qualifying events.
“We are racing,” said Lyle in a statement provided to Speed51.com by Champion Racing Association (CRA) officials, whose ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour divisions headline the SpeedFest event. “I feel like we will have cars on the track before Sunday, but if we have to do it in one day we will.”
Lyle and his team at the newly-named Crisp Motorsports Park – Home of Watermelon Capital Speedway have spent months preparing the facility with upgrades and amenities that racers and fans are sure to enjoy during this weekend’s SpeedFest event.
“I have spent over $50,000 in upgrades around here already, with more to come, and I want the fans and the rest of the racing world to see what we have going on here, so we are going to show it to them this Sunday,” added Lyle.
Fans who can’t make it to Watermelon Capital Speedway this weekend can tune in to a live 51 TV video broadcast on Speed51.com. For just $19.99, fans can purchase a live event broadcast ticket to catch the ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour feature events on Sunday, December 25, plus be able to tune in to all the qualifying action for free on Saturday, December 24.
