Rising to the challenge is what separates a top-notch driver from the rest of the pack. Whether it’s dominating a race, going on a winning streak or sealing a win with a late race pass, drivers slowly rise to the top of the field and make a name for themselves.
That’s why the FK Rod Ends, who has nearly 10,000 combinations of rod ends and spherical bearings available and carefully crafts their products, is proud to honor a monthly “Team FK Driver of the Month” from the short track ranks of America on Speed51.com. The winner of the “Team FK Driver of the Month” for the month of October is……
Stewart Friesen had a month of October that he’ll never forget. Although he only won two races during the month, those two wins were two of the biggest of the year for Dirt Modified racers in the Northeast.
Friesen kicked off the month by making his way to Oswego Speedway (NY) for the inaugural Super DIRT Week at the track. With uncertainty surrounding the event, Friesen shined in the closing laps of the 200-lap race to win his fifth career Super DIRT Week crown.
He followed that up two weeks later by winning the Eastern States 200, a race that he had never won before. Friesen not only won the race, but he did so in style by making a last-lap pass on Brett “The Jet” Hearn, an 11-time Eastern States winner.
While he may have come up short in his bid to win the Super DIRTcar Series title, there’s no doubt that Friesen and his Halmar team stepped up during “big race season” in October.
For his spectacular performances in two of the biggest Dirt Modified races of the season, Friesen has been named the Team FK Driver of the Month.
Others receiving votes: Derek Griffith, Josh Richards, Matt Hirschman, Matt Sheppard, Mike Looney and Scott Bloomquist.
