Rising to the challenge is what separates a top-notch driver from the rest of the pack. Whether it’s dominating a race, going on a winning streak or sealing a win with a late race pass, drivers slowly rise to the top of the field and make a name for themselves.
That’s why the FK Rod Ends, who has nearly 10,000 combinations of rod ends and spherical bearings available and carefully crafts their products, is proud to honor a monthly “Team FK Driver of the Month” from the short track ranks of America on Speed51.com. Each month, an esteemed panel of short track industy insiders will vote on which driver had the most success on the track. The driver with the most votes will then be the “Team Fk Driver of the Month” and will receive a $25 product certificate to use at FK Rod Ends. At the end of the 2016 season, the driver that received the most votes throughout the season will then be the “Team FK Driver of the Year” and will be awarded $250 product certificate to FK Rod Ends. Dirt Late Models
If you attended a Dirt Late Model race in the South Carolina or Georgia area during the month of March, you probably noticed that things were quite “smokey.” We’re not talking about the type of smoke that pours out of a race car after it suffers an engine failure; we’re talking about the smoke trail that Chris “Smokey” Madden left after picking up three wins and a runner-up finish in the region.
Madden, of Gray Court, South Carolina, kicked off the month of March by scoring three straight wins worth a total of $18,000. During the first week of the month, he swept both feature events for the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series at Cherokee Speedway (SC). He followed that up by scoring a big $5,000 win in an unsanctioned Dirt Late Model race at Georgia’s Dixie Speedway.
Madden ended the month of March with a finish no worse than eighth, which came in a Carolina Clash race at Lancaster Speedway (NC). He finished second during the first night of the Spring Nationals at Senoia Raceway (GA) before the second night was rained out.
Although April is a new month, Madden has continued his hot streak by scoring his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win since 2014 at Boyd’s Speedway (GA) and winning at $10,000-to-win Spring Nationals race at Volunteer Speedway (TN).
Early on in the season, Madden has already scored five wins worth a total of $38,000.
For his performance in Dirt Late Model competition during the month of March, Chris Madden has been named the Team FK Driver of the Month.
Other drivers receiving votes: Ben Rowe, Chase Purdy, Rodney Sanders, Spencer Davis, Todd Gilliland, Ty Majeski.
