SHREWSBURY, Mass. – In July, Rob Fuller Motorsports brought a contenting race car to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event.  Todd Szegedy, driver of the No. 15 15-40 Connection Chevrolet, led 15 laps of the race, but unfortunately the day ended with a DNF due to a mechanical failure.  This weekend, the RFM team is seeking to recapture the success of the day and finish it off with a win.

Szegedy has a knack for racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  He’s the defending race winner and has an average finish of 9.8 in 24 starts at this track.

“The way I look at it if we finish without having an issue, we are going to finish strong,” said Szegedy.  “Everywhere we’ve raced we’ve been a contender to win.  We’ve just had mechanical issues and some bad luck.  I won this race last year and I always wish we had more races there because I like it so much.”

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 3:30 p.m. EDT following the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.  Considering this fact, the team is preparing a different setup on the car.

“The truck race prior to the modified race is going to play a bit of a factor,” said Szegedy.  “Goodyear tire rubber affects the way our cars handle.  Generally, that’s what your first 50 laps are for anyways.  The way I approach it is the first 50 is when you adjust your car and get prepared.  The last 50 are what’s important.”

“We had a great car in July and unfortunately, the fuel pump went bad,” said Rob Fuller, team owner.  “We’re going back with a little different set up because we’re running after the Truck Series and it should be about 15 degrees cooler so we’ll see how it shakes out.  A win at Loudon would be huge for our sponsors and LFR Chassis.  We have to catch up to Burt (Myers) in the win column!”

In addition to the on-track competition, RFM has two sponsor programs taking place this weekend.

Fuel for Fire is joining RFM as an associate sponsor on the No. 15 car for this race.  Fuel for Fire creates Fuel Packs that provide the right balance of protein, carbs and nutrients that athletes and active people need.  They include nothing but real, whole food ingredients and 10g of protein per pack.  To learn more visit www.facebook.com/fuelforfire.performance.

As an extension to its young adult cancer program with the team, 15-40 Connection is working with RFM to acquiring more stories of diagnosis to share in educational outreach efforts empowering the lifesaving advantage of earlier detection in young adults.

Young adult cancer survivors between the ages of 15 and 40 interested in sharing their journey of cancer detection and diagnosis can email the team at [email protected].  All stories will be considered for inclusion in the 15-40 Connection educational programs and one story will be chosen and featured at the NWMT season finale race at Thompson Speedway on Oct. 19.  The person will be invited to attend the race as an honorary crew member of the No. 15 race team.

The race will be telecast on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. EDT on Fox Sports 1.  Fans can follow the team this weekend atwww.Facebook.com/RobFullerMotorsports.
