Kevin O’Connell took the Nascar Nationwide Series by storm just about a month ago at Road America, finishing third in the Gardner Denver 200. O’Connell gave the #23 RWR team their best finish to date, and first top 5 ever. He returns to the Nationwide series for round #2, challenging the regulars at Watkins Glen for the Zippo 200 at the Glen. O’Connell will be strapping back into his Rick Ware Racing machine for the event.
O’Connell a regular in the TOYOTA SWS series, and a huge supporter in the division at Willow Springs International Raceway. Always a contender, Kevin has roots in road racing and has established himself as a force at any event that involves left and right turns. Teaming up with RWR, a team that also has a history with the TOYOTA SWS series with Cody Ware at the wheel, the combination is certain to give the competition a run for its money.
The Nationwide series visits several road course venues throughout the yearly tournament. Amongst these events, oftentimes there are “road-ringers” who attend. O’Connell has made his name known in the garage area, and carrying the TOYOTA SWS support with him, is aiming to represent the West on the East coast.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Kevin at The Glen as he goes for another podium finish in Nascar’s Second Tier class. Also be sure to catch Kevin when he races at Willow Springs in the TOYOTA SWS Series for their next race on August 30.
