The month of May is here, along with all of the racing traditions that go along with it. At Millbridge Speedway, that tradition is the Speed51 Open, the marquee Outlaw Kart event at the 1/6-mile oval in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Along with the $5,151-to-win Open Division feature that draws some of the best Outlaw Kart racers in the country as well as top NASCAR stars such as Kyle Larson, Millbridge’s three other weekly Outlaw Kart divisions will also compete in the event on May 21-22.
“The Speed51 Open is our biggest event each year,” said Ashly Burnett, co-owner of Millbridge Speedway. “We’re excited to host the event once again for all of our Outlaw Kart competitors in 2019.”
Tuesday’s Cook Out Qualifying Night will set the stage for Wednesday’s Open Division program. Drivers in that division will compete for fast time in qualifying. However, there will still be plenty of racing action on Qualifying Night.
Beginner Box Stock and Box Stock competitors will take the track on Tuesday, crowning their respective Speed51 Open champions. For each of those divisions, the winner will take home a $300 check for their efforts.
The Intermediate Outlaw Kart division will also take the track during the Speed51 Open, with the winner of that division earning a $500 payday.
Stay tuned to Speed51 for more updates on the 2019 Speed51 Open, Millbridge Speedway’s May tradition.
