The Florida-Bama Double will see race teams compete Friday night in the Blizzard Series opener at Five Flags Speedway before heading to Montgomery Motor Speedway for the Rumble by the River on Saturday night.
Each race will pay $5,000 to win, with a $1,000 bonus paid out to the driver with the best average finish between the two races. A $500 bonus will also be offered to the driver with the fifth-best average finish.
Earnest Performance will offer a free set of Hoosier Racing Tires to the Hard Luck Driver each night during the doubleheader. Hoosier will also give two free tires to six drivers who enter before the deadline.
The 2021 Blizzard Series sees a later start than normal for a non-pandemic affected season, starting in June compared to late April and as early as March. Past Blizzard Series opener winners include Stephen Nasse, Giovanni Bromante, Bubba Pollard, Casey Roderick, Kyle Grissom, TJ Reaid, Chase Elliott and Johanna Long.
Last year’s opener was part a doubleheader weekend in late June, after the originally-scheduled date was postponed due to COVID-19. Nasse won the front end of the double, while Pollard took the back half of the weekend’s races. Nasse would bookend the mini-series, while Pollard took the middle two races and the Blizzard title.
Next weekend’s races will be the fifth and sixth races of the 2021 season for the Southern Super Series. Ty Majeski kicked off the year with his fourth Rattler 250 win. Corey Heim won at Crisp Motorsports Park on March 27, while Stephen Nasse went to victory lane at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in a combination event with the CARS Super Late Model Tour. Most recently, Carson Kvapil won the North/South Super Late Model Challenge at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in a tri-sanctioned event with CARS and the ARCA/CRA Super Series.
After four races, two-time and defending Southern Super Series champion Stephen Nasse once again finds himself on top of the points standings. A pair of young guns sit tied for second, with Jake Garcia and Jett Noland both sitting 16 points back. Sammy Smith and Carson Kvapil currently round out the top-five in the standings.
Both races of the Southern Super Series doubleheader, including the Blizzard Series opener at Five Flags and the Rumble By The River 100 at Montgomery, will be broadcasted live on Speed51.TV. Friday’s race at Five Flags will be available as a pay-per-view broadcast for $19.99, while Saturday’s race at Montgomery will be available to Speed51.TV monthly and yearly subscribers.
