Short track racing fans will be treated to the perfect storm this summer on Speed51.com. After a successful debut in 2017, Summer Thunder TV presented by PFC Brakes will return with even more force and more races in 2018. In all, more than 40 short track races will be broadcast live to Speed51 Network subscribers as part of the program.
This year’s program will see Speed51.com air live races from 27 different race tracks in 14 different states and Canadian provinces.
“We had so much fun with Summer Thunder TV last year,” said Speed51.com Operations Manager Mark Keeler. “Our staff received a lot of positive feedback from track promoters, as well as the short track fans who were able to watch events that they may otherwise not be able to attend. We’re all excited to have Summer Thunder TV return even bigger and better in 2018.”
Summer Thunder TV will begin on the first day of summer, Thursday, June 21, with the Flip Merwin Memorial at State Park Speedway (WI). After that, our cameras will head south to Fayetteville Motor Speedway (NC) for the fifth race of the 2018 FUEL Late Model Series season on Saturday, June 23.
The following week will feature a trifecta of races beginning on Thursday, June 28 with the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series “Ol’ Boy Cup 60” at Lancaster National Speedway (NY). Summer Thunder TV will rumble back to the state of Wisconsin on Friday, June 29 for some dirt slingin’ action with the Dirt Kings Late Model Tour at 141 Speedway. The busy weekend trifecta will end with a live broadcast of the Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman Series at Stateline Speedway (NY) on Saturday, June 30.
With fireworks shooting into the sky, Summer Thunder TV will take you to Millbridge Speedway (NC) for Celebration of America night on Wednesday, July 4.
Our first stop in the Northeast will see us visit Lee USA Speedway (NH) on Friday, July 6. This event will be our first of three live Granite State Pro Stock Series broadcasts this summer.
The first Summer Thunder TV doubleheader will take place on Saturday, July 7 when our cameras will be live for the Lee Anderson Memorial Outlaw Late Model race at Berlin Raceway (MI) and the Pro Late Model event at Mobile International Speedway (AL).
Race fans will be able to watch the action of the ARCA Midwest Tour on Saturday, July 14 when the popular Super Late Model touring series visits Grundy County Speedway (IL). That same day will feature a jam-packed day of racing from the beautiful Jukasa Motor Speedway (ON) with the RoC Asphalt Modified Series and ISMA Supermodifieds.
Summer Thunder TV will take on the widowmaker at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl (VT) on Thursday, July 19 with a live broadcast of the Vermont Governor’s Cup for the second straight year.
After a date with the widowmaker, we’ll next head to “The Zoo” on Friday, July 20 to showcase the Outlaw Super Late Model division at Kalamazoo Speedway (MI), which is prior to the running of the Kalamazoo Klash.
Saturday, July 21 will feature the only tripleheader of the Summer Thunder TV schedule. On that day, Speed51 Network subscribers will be able to watch the RoC Asphalt Modified Series at Holland Speedway (NY), the Show Me the Money Pro Late Model Series at Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL) and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Kil-Kare Raceway (OH).
After a few days off to take a breather, Summer Thunder TV will return on Wednesday, July 25 with a Short Track Super Series North Region Modified and Sportsman doubleheader at Afton Motorsports Park (NY).
From there, we’ll make our way back to State Park Speedway in Wisconsin for the annual Detjens Memorial Weekend. Our cameras will be live on Friday, July 27 for the Big 8 Series race and on Saturday, July 28 for Super Late Model action.
A busy weekend will continue with a live broadcast of the Tri-Track Open Modified Series SBM 125 at Star Speedway (NH) on Saturday, July 28 and the Short Track Super Series South Region at BAPS Motor Speedway (PA) on Sunday, July 29.
To kick off the month of August, Speed51.com will make our way back to Lancaster National Speedway near Buffalo, NY for the RoC Asphalt Modified Series “Thursday Night Thunder by the Thruway” event on Thursday, August 2.
On Friday, August 3, Summer Thunder TV will make some noise at Five Flags Speedway (FL), the home of the Snowball Derby, for the Modifieds of Mayhem event. That race will be combined with the following night’s race at Mobile Int’l Speedway to create a Modifieds of Mayhem Gulf Coast weekend doubleheader.
Pro Late Models from the Champion Racing Association (JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour) will be in the spotlight on Saturday, August 11 when Summer Thunder TV returns to Berlin Raceway.
A weekday doubleheader is in store for Tuesday, August 14 when Speed51 Network premium subscribers will be treated to the Carolina Clash race at Carolina Speedway (NC) and the Short Track Super Series North Region at Albany-Saratoga Speedway (NY).
Our cameras will head back to Mobile, Alabama on Saturday, August 18 to showcase the Pro Late Model division for the second time before going back to Millbridge Speedway for a night of Outlaw Kart racing on Wednesday, August 22.
Summer Thunder TV will complete a summer trifecta at State Park Speedway on Thursday, August 23 by offering a live broadcast of the Lodi Memorial Race. We’ll stay in the state of Wisconsin the following night to spotlight the Super Late Model Triple Crown at Madison Int’l Speedway.
The ground-pounding Modifieds from the Southern Modified Racing Series will debut on Summer Thunder TV on Saturday, August 25 at Caraway Speedway (NC). The 602 Tour Modifieds will also be showcased that night on Speed51.com.
Our final race of August will see us visit the 2017 Speed51.com Short Track of the Year, Georgetown Speedway (DE), for the Short Track Super Series Blast at the Beach.
Labor Day Weekend will the wild racing of Macon Speedway in Illinois featured on Saturday, September 1. The following day, the Granite State Pro Stock Series will have a live broadcast of the $3,500-to-win event (Sunday, September 2) at Claremont Speedway (NH).
Summer Thunder TV will end just after Labor Day Weekend with a spectacular doubleheader at Star Speedway on Saturday, September 8. The live broadcast will air both the prestigious Star Classic for the ISMA Supermodifieds and the Granite State Pro Stock Series race that day.
