Ontario-based news source Cornwall Seaway News has reported that Danny Lefebvre, a Mini Stock driver at Cornwall Motor Speedway, has been pronounced dead following a serious crash at the track on Sunday night.

“Police confirmed Monday morning Danny Lefebvre, of St-Louis De Gonzague, Que., was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A speedway source said the accident involved Lefebvre, a driver in the mini-stock division, who sustained a fatal injury.

The source said the crash occured on lap 11 of the 12-lap feature race. The vehicle Lefebvre was driving smashed into a concrete barrier just off of turn two of the quarter-mile dirt oval track.

Paramedics rushed to the vehicle. Police were also called and speedway officials stopped the evening’s proceedings so that an investigation could begin right away.

The speedway source said Lefebvre was driving the car that belonged to Francis Blanchette, another mini-stock driver. The source indicated Blanchette was serving a short suspension for rough riding and that Lefebvre had agreed to drive the car this weekend.”

The entire staff at Speed51.com extends thoughts and prayers to those that were close to Lefebvre.
