Picking the winners of big short track races throughout the country is a tradition that our staff at Speed51.com has enjoyed for many years. With a big Tri-Track Open Modified Series race being held this Sunday at Seekonk Speedway, we decided to challenge our staff once again.

This week we asked members of our Speed51.com team, “Who are you picking to win the Haunted Hundred?”

The answers we received varied, but when all the votes were tallied it was Matt Hirschman (11 votes) who was named the favorite to win the big race.  Overall, five different drivers received votes from our panel of 17 experts.

Check out our full list of staff picks for the Haunted Hundred below.

Aaron Creed, Speed51.com National Correspondent

Pick: Matt Hirschman

Six consecutive wins at six different tracks in four different cars since Labor Day Weekend. That pretty much says enough.

Adam Mackey, Speed51.com Correspondent

Pick: Matt Hirschman

I would like to step out there and pick a dark horse but I need wins and need them badly. I think Matt Hirschman is the man to get me that win.

Bob Dillner, Speed51.com Executive Editor

Pick: Matt Hirschman

There’s big money on the line. His nickname is “Big Money.” Enough said.

Brandon Paul, Speed51.com Editor

Pick: Chase Dowling

As one of the young guns of the Tour-type Modified world, Dowling sometimes flies under the radar when he enters big events. Driving the Gary Casella No. 25, a proven race car that he’s visited victory lane in before, I think Dowling has all of the tools to score his first Tri-Track Modified win this weekend. Not to mention, he’s also finished on the podium in his last two starts (NWMT in June & Tri-Track Mods in July) at Seekonk.

Connor Sullivan, Speed51.com Northeast Editor

Pick: Chase Dowling

Before his win with LFR in the Musket 250 at New Hampshire, Dowling had scored two wins in Gary Casella’s red No. 25 a year prior. Dowling has established himself as a threat to win anywhere and anytime, and the 25 team is fresh off a win with Todd Owen in MRS competition at Thompson. Silk and Hirschman may be the most talked about coming in, but this driver/team combination has as good a chance as those two.

Dakota Geyer, Speed51.com State Editor (IN & MI)

Pick: Matt Hirschman

Anytime “Big Money” enters a Modified race, he is one of the favorites to win. He’ll pick up another one in the Haunted Hundred.

Pick: Matt Hirschman

“Big Money” has been dialed in lately and his record on the Tri-Track Open Modified Series is one of the reasons why he is my pick to win at Seekonk. Hirschman is practically unstoppable in the “Big Money” races and he was just named the Speed51.com FK Rod Ends Driver of the Month for September. Don’t be surprised if Hirschman claims that award again before the end of 2018.

Pick: Matt Hirschman

It’s a no brainier to pick “Big Money” Matt Hirschman. Sure, all streaks eventually come to an end, but Hirschman is on a roll right now and I don’t see that ending this weekend.

Elgin Traylor, Speed51.com Southeast Correspondent

Pick: Matt Hirschman

Because he’s Matt Hirschman and all he does is win.

Evan Canfield, Speed51.com / MoJo Photos

Pick: Patrick Emerling

Although he may not be considered a favorite, Patrick Emerling is fast at virtually every track he visits. I want to pick Matt Hirschman, but I’m not going to gain any points on my Speed51.com colleagues by taking the safe pick. Look for Emerling to seal the deal at Seekonk.

Jeremy Anders, Speed51.com Northwest Editor

Pick: Matt Hirschman

“Show Me The Money” was a great quote from Jerry McGuire but could also be the title of a Matt Hirschman movie. Call it the safe pick, easy pick or just the smart pick, but for this race it’s the right pick. Hirschman will look to “scare” the “pants” (tires) off his fellow competitors in the Haunted Hundred this weekend.

Kevin Peters, Speed51.com Southwest Editor

Pick: Matt Hirschman

Big Money is sure to be the overwhelming favorite for this weekend’s Haunted Hundred but he has earned that stature, and I don’t see that changing after this weekend.

Mark Keeler, Speed51.com Operations Manager

Pick: Ron Silk

This is a tough one for me to pick. Sentimentally, I’d love to pick Richard Savary again at the ‘Cement Palace’ and he almost came through for me back in July. Hirschman is the obvious pick for most people with his success overall and especially in recent weeks, but I’m going to pick Ron Silk to double-down and finish off 2018 with his second straight Tri-Track victory at Seekonk.

Patrick Hahe, Speed51.com Great Lakes Editor

Pick: Matt Hirschman

It’s hard to pick against the 60 car when he rolls off the trailer. Hirschman is quick everywhere he goes and rarely breaks. Look for Hirschman to scare up another big win this weekend.

Rob Blount, Speed51.com Associate Editor

Pick: Tommy Barrett

Tommy Barrett earned himself the nickname “Tommy 10K” when he won the Open Wheel Wednesday show a few years back at Seekonk Speedway. It’s time for him to have some more success at the ‘Konk.

Ryan McCollough, Speed51.com Southeast Correspondent

Pick: Matt Hirschman

Every palace needs a king, and Matt Hirschman fits it well. He will rule as King of the Concrete once again and continue his dominance in the Tri-Track series.

Tom Ryan, Speed51.com Digital Manager

Pick: Ron Silk

I have picked Matt Hirschman for the past few big Modified races and he has been the right pick. This time I feel like it’s time for a change. I am going with Ron Silk to win the big Modified show at Seekonk.
